I joined Barclays Stockbrokers recently as I wanted to deal in shares on line. The service at sign up was'nt that good, I had major problems with setting up my password. I wanted to use on that I already have for other accounts but they were'nt to happy. Managed to solve that problem.
Being able to buy shares on credit (14days) seemed good but the downside is that you also have to wait 2 weeks to get your money when the shares are sold. There is no nominee account or cash account where you can keep your shares and spare cash to fund deals. You can't deal out of business hours and you can't enter limit orders.
Overall they are not bad for someone wanting to invest for the medium to long term, a definite no no for the short term day trader. Costs range from £14.50 (minimum)to £39.99 (maximum) at 1%.
