I opened my B2 market track account in July 1999 and regret it. I decided that i wanted to invest money in the long term and thought Barclays bank was well-known and established therefore they would be my safest best. Since i first opened the account, however, i have had little news of how my investment has been going. Quarterly statements turned into half-yearly statements, and when i tried to go online to find the value of my investment, i was disappointed to find that i was unable to access my account. (I have another investment with Fidelity who allows you to access your account 24 hours a day to find the precise value of your investment.) I have tried numerous times to use their call back function but each time, i get the same response that it doesn't work. I therefore tried calling them on their freephone number only to get an incompetant staff who didn't know that they even had a call-back facility. Their "monthly" newsletter is also out of date. When i called them up to complain and ask if i could be sent a graphic chart of how my investment had moved over the past 6 months (the half-yearly statements weren't quite sufficient), i was refused and told that someone would call me back to follow up my complaint - something which never happened. Overall, if you want to put your money somewhere and forget about it, this is the place. But if you want to actually track your investment and see how it has been performing, go for a specialist who knows what they are doing.
