Quite a few salons, I have found mainly in the Midlands stock BareMinerals, and the salon I work in does also, and has done for several years - the customers love it! Since using Bare Escentuals make up on my face, I would never use anything else and I know alot of customers feel the same. I think it is the best make up out there by far.

About Mineral Veil #1.0

This is the original Mineral Veil and is a sheer finishing powder that blends perfectly into your skin, minimising your pores and setting your make up for perfect looking bare skin. Mineral Veil is cornstarch based and has an amazingly light texture providing you with shine-free skin. It is perfect to use throughout the day, it contains no talc, fragrance or binders and you can wear it on bare skin, over foundation, bronzer or blusher to give you a flawless finish.

About Tinted Mineral Veil

You get the same soft translucence as the original Mineral Veil but with a small hint of a warm tone to it. Tinted Mineral Veil is sheer and versatile enough for all skin tones and gives you the a perfect flawless finish with a hint of colour. The Tinted Mineral Veil blends into your skin perfectly and like original Mineral Veil, it minimises pores and sets your make up whilst reducing shine.

Which one do I choose?

I am BareMinerals trained, and whilst at the training this product was one of their highlights. They recommend that you use Mineral Veil #1.0 if you have caucasian skin and they recommend you use Tinted Mineral Veil if you have skin darker than this. As the powder is sheer it doesn't colour your skin, it just reduces shine. This doesn't mean you can't use the other one, if you do like to wear quite alot of tinted colours, foundations and bronzers then I would recommend you use the tinted one then. . If you are going to wear one without any other coverage I would recommend Tinted Mineral Veil. If you have very dark skin, you will think that neither of these will be any good - that they will be too light for your skin but customers with very dark skin are some of my best customers for this product. Darker skin tends to suffer from oily skin the most and also from large open pores and the Tinted Mineral Veil is sheer and won't lighten your skin, yet will provide a flawless, shine free skin whilst minimising pores.

Use & Effects

BareMinerals Mineral Veil can be used on its own or after applying foundation and after applying any colour to your skin. So to apply - using your preferred powder brush (I would definately recommend using Bare Escentuals Flawless Coverage Application Brush to maximise the benefits) swirl the brush inside the lid, absorbing a small amount of bareMinerals onto your brush. I cannot state enough how little you really need. You need the tiniest tinest amount, you will think the amount you need to use is nothing but it is all you need. Tap to remove the excess powder and then buff onto the skin, concentrating on the T-Zone, as this is where you are most oily. You can apply before foundation to create a matt, even skin ready to apply your foundation and after your foundation or colour to set your make up. I usually apply it before I apply my foundation and after my foundation but then I apply my bronzer ontop. It is really quick to apply, it only takes a few minutes an is easy to do, once you get used to the amount you should use.

The biggest problem with this product is that most people use too much, meaning Mineral Veil will make your skin seem like it looks pale, this is why I emphasise that you only use the tiniest amount to reduce shine and set your make up.

This is great to dust on if you're in a hurry and just want a light barely there colour which will help the shine and give your skin a matt, even finish. Personally for my skin, alone this wouldn't give me enough coverage, but if you do suffer from quite oily skin and you have fairly good skin and don't like to wear much make up then this is perfect for you and will reduce the shine. When applying over make up, it sets your make up, preventing it from rubbing off and fading throughout the day so you don't have to reapply, you can just dust this over your skin throughout the day if you find necessary. As Mineral Veil is sheer, you don't see it over your make up, all you see if a more flawless and photo finish to your make up, especially as it also keeps the oil at bay. It also minimises pores, making large open ones less obvious - this is typical on oily skin types. Although it minimises pores, it doesn't tighten then and make your skin then feel tight. It is light as a feather, so you don't even know its there.

All BareMinerals products are suitable for all skin types - oily, dry, combination and sensitive as it has factors to suit all those skin types. As it is in a powder form it is great for oily skin, as it absorbs the excess oil without it showing, sticking and looking cakey on your skin. If your skin gets oily whilst on, you can just buff over and it absorbs the oil. Mineral Veil is a light weight feathery powder, which doesn't cling to your skin and doesn't highlight any dry patches, it glides over these areas and makes your skin look even and fresh. As it contains all natural mineral ingredients only it is suitable for sensitive skin, it doesn't contain any preservatives, talc, oil, fragrance and other potential skin irritants and is free of fillers and binders, which makes the perfect foundation for sensitive skin. I suffer from ecezma on my face and this is the only make up I can wear on it without it sticking to it and causing irritation and swelling. If you suffer from oily skin, or during high humidity, lightly sweep Mineral Veil over your complexion prior to bareMinerals Foundation to help keep oil at bay, and reapply throughout the day if you find your skin getting oily again, you only need to do this once or twice through out the day, so it's not too time consuming.

BareMinerals cannot be compared to other mineral make ups that have recently come onto the market such as loreal, other products do not contain pure minerals, they still contain nasty ingredients so it's not good for your skin and they don't even look good on your skin either.

It is easy to remove, you can use cleanser, make up remover or facial wipes. As it is pure minerals, this is actually okay to sleep in - it won't bring you out in spots as it allows your skin to breathe whilst on and does not clog your pores. Obviously it is best to sleep with no make up on whatsover, but if you forget or don't have anything to remove it with then it doesn't matter.

Mineral Veil costs £21 for a 3oz pot. It can be purchased from any salon stocking BareMinerals products, from www.bareminerals.co.uk or from other websites. Even though this seems a lot to pay, it really isn't as it lasts so long. My pot lasted about 8 months with nearly every day use. On the website you can purchase a starter kit, containing a foundation, warmth, concealer, four brushes for these products and a how to guide for £44.95 with a retail value of £119.50, so if you are interested in this make up, I think that kit is really worth it.

This product is fantastic for setting your make up, ensuring it looks even more flawless, for that photo-finish and it is definately a must have for anyone who has oily skin, as applying before you apply your make up, it will keep the oil at bay and reduce shine. Although it is quite expensive, it lasts for months, as you only use the tiniest amount. I would definately recommend it.
