"Barnes Brokecraft!!"

Booked two Brinks craft boats for a week. (Sonnet 2 & 3) All started so well. We were greeted with champange and chocolate and were even allowed to take our craft earlier than the agreed 2pm start time. The first couple of days were fine, Then things started to go pear shaped. On morning 3, Sonnet 3's Starter Battery failed!! we phoned Brinks craft and an engineer agreed to come out within the next couple of hours. Luckily as we had the second craft, we could all make our way to Yarmouth for the day on the one boat (we could pick up the stricken sonnet 3 on our way back) Seven hours later we returned to find nothing had been done!! Another phone call to brinks soon discovered that the engineer couldnt find us!!!!!!! After several tiring minutes trying to explain that we had just seen the brinks craft van only a few minutes down river, merrily having a picnic, We ended up going back to pick him up. As it turned out the van was only 2 minutes from us by road!! The 5 minute job of changing the battery was finally done a grand total of 8 hrs and 5 mins later. Next day was the turn of sonnet 2!! The toilet broke. Another call to brinks craft, and the same (overworked) engineer was there, screwdriver in hand. He fixed the problem and we were off again. Thankfully after that most of the problems were only minor, Cupboard door fell off, Shower door broke...Twice. Water temperature had a mind of its own.
Finally made it back to brinks on Saturday to find that the staff had complely changed, and seemed only interested in getting you off the boat yard as quickly as possible!! No one appologised about the problems we had experienced. ( they must have had a record of them) We were not asked if we enjoyed our holiday! We were not even told where our car was parked. We were just handed the keys. And The for the final insult were were told that we owed them another £15 for fuel, on top of the £140 we had already paid. We have used several other yards, Paid the same £140 and have ALWAYS been re-embursed a sizabe portion of it. We Felt Cheated!!
All in All Though We Did enjoy our holiday on the Broads (despite every thing) We always do. But we felt that our experience was tarnished by the Management and Actions of one boat yard. It goes to show, that if you pay over the odds for guaranteed Quality and service (And we did!!) You don't always get what you pay for. And one final word for Brinks... Duck Poo!! Would it kill you to hose a bit of it away? There is not a square inch of their yard that isnt covered. Something to think about when you are carrying all those cases to your car. Next year we will be using Richardsons of Stalham, An Excellent and efficiant yard From whom we have had no problems. Please think carefully before booking with Brinks craft you could be bitterly dissapointed.
