Initially set up to allow a place for creative types to design game resources & worlds, it welcomes even the total gaming newbie with open arms and even occasionally runs games to introduce newcomers to role playing. Speaking ... ...I was always put off by the idea of grown men pretending to be wizards, but instead have realised it's almost like writing your very own story as you go along.

Speaking from a personal perspective, I find this very reassuring as I was always put off by the idea of grown men pretending to be wizards, but instead have realised it's almost like writing your very own story as you go along.
Systems covered on this site include not just D&D (Dungeons & Dragons) but also: - BESM (Big Eyes Small Mouth) - World of Darkness (Grrrr I'm a vampire & I'm gonna kill all werewolves) - Call of Cthulhu (excellent horror game system based around H.P.Lovecraft's work) - D20 Modern - The Window and they are always looking to expand this range.
Every month a themed competition is run in order to entice people to create & invent, with each week requiring a slightly different area to be covered. Everyone chips in & helps to ensure resources designed are fully fleshed & everything is free to use in your own games & campaigns. Amongst those offering advice & support are published RPG writers & games masters with decades of gaming experience.
One thing that often gets criticised is the censorship that takes place, but this is only really done regarding anything verging on pornography, hatred or bigotry - after all there is a large age range covered & still some incredibly gruesome & gory games go ahead.
Overall a supportive & friendly environment to game and design within, just try not to get sucked into the addictive arcade.

Advantages: There is something for everyone, endless supply of knowledge Disadvantages: haven't found anything yet
...only recently been involved with Barrok's Tower. Everything there has been extremely helpful in everything that I have needed. There is so much information there and the ability to obtain so much more. If you can't find it there you can ask someone and I am sure that someone will know. If there is a forum that you think is relavant to the site, I am sure the admin there will take it into consideration and add it if they agree with you. Everyone (even ... ...nice and helpful.
I can't even begin to discuss what I like most and where I spend the most time inside of the tower, because I seem to find myself all over the place. Just when I think I am going to hang out and only post in one or two particular rooms, I read someone else's post and it intrigues me. I could go on and on about this website and what it offers, but I would rather you go there and check it out yourself.
