If I had the money, I'd be a make-up snob and only buy expensive brands. Sadly, I don't have the money so I'm always on the lookout for cheaper alternatives. I'd been lusting over MAC's 'pigments', after seeing the amazing looks people had created using them. However, even though I know MAC is quality, I wouldn't use enough of this stuff to warrant spending £15 on just a tub of sparkly powder.
That's where Barry M came in. They're a funky, young brand that specialise in fantastic, bright colours. And they're well-know for not testing on animals, and for being affordable. Nail polishes, lippies, glitters, pencil...they stock everything, but the dazzle dust is the most famous product. It's now got cult status and is used by a lot of make-up artists, especially on popstars, as the colours are strong and vivid. It's basically a really high-colour, sparkly pigment, made up of really fine shimmery particles (unlike the thick 'glitter' from some cheap brands). They're supposedly for eyes, though they can be used pretty much anywhere with a bit of an imagination. They pink / bronze shades are great mixed with vaseline on lips and cheekbones.
I'm not sure why this product has been put under 'superdrug' in the category listing. They do stock Barry M (in larger stores only) but Superdrug isn't the only place you can buy Barry M. As well as the website (barrym.com) their products sold at various choice outlets around the country. I bought my dazzle dusts from Topshop, Oxford Circus, where there's a big display and a staff member on hand to make you over. And you get student discount!
The dazzle dusts are a very reasonable £4.50 each. Since I could get three for the price of that MAC pigment I lusted over, that's exactly what I did. There's no shade names, only numbers, since there are so many to choose from. I bought no.44 - a bronze shade that's exactly like MAC's Melon pigment, no.78 - a strong dark turquoise, and no.79 - an acidic lime green.
The dusts come in a little tiny glass pot wth a black plastic lid (with gold lettering). At first glance, there doesn't look to be a lot in a tub, but they are filled to the brim, and you'll soon learn that they go down VERY slowly! You need only a very small amount to build up a strong colour, so one little 'jar' would last ages even it if was used regularly. The first time I used mine, I didn't even need to dip into the product, I got enough from the inside of the lid.
There's no applicator provided with the dazzle dusts, which to me is a good thing because I always throw away the naff applicators that come with make-up anyway. I'd suggest using a decent quality make-up brush for these. Because they're such good texture and quality for the cost, dazzle dusts are fairly foolproof to apply, but because they are loose shimmer powders, beware! I don't find too much of a problem with them falling onto the cheeks compared to some of the other eyeshadows I've tried, though they can be a little bit messy if you don't use the proper applicators. This is not the type of shadow you can apply with your fingers, and I wouldn't recommend those spongey applicators either, they're not very good at applying even colour. A blender brush is vital to step the lines looking too harsh. But don't be put off by this! Provided you have a decent make-up brush, they're surprisingly easy to use. I use brushes from The Body Shop (the best cheap ones around) and apply sparingly a bit at a time, building up the colour.
A great tip for a different look with these dusts is to use an angled or liner brush wet to apply a thin line of really intense colour around the eyes like liner. I find wet dazzle dust is better than most liners for staying power, especially on the inner lid.
Once they're on, the colours are good (it looks the same on the eyes as it does in the pot) and staying power is amazing. I applied just a little of the bronze one day, went out during a hot day in London and came back to find 90% still intact. Usually it'd be all in the corners of my eyes and down my cheeks by the end of the day. I'm also amazed at the staying-power of the shimmer too. It stays in the shadow, not halfway down your face!
Dazzle Dust is a great product for those of us who like quite a dramatic look, and the huge range of colours can't be beaten. silver, yellow, pink, blue, orange, purple...they have it all, and everything in between. There are more subtle, sheer colours in the line too, oyster whites and sheer metallics, etc. I just like bold shades applied in interesting ways! There's a lot of shimmer in every colour, but it is SHIMMER, not glitter. They make a 'fine glitter powder' for that instead.
I would most definitely recommend these if you're good with make-up or WANT to be, or like to experiment. They're definitely quite a young and funky product, not for school or offices, but for nights out and holidays and stuff. I'll be taking mine to Vegas with me in September....I think I'll fit right in with all the glitz and glam!
[provided I do it right, there should be some pictures below of the dusts I have and the looks I've created with them. I'm off to buy more as soon as I have some cash!]
Advantages: Huge range of colours, more glam than your average eye-shadow, & lasts forever Disadvantages: Messy!

Barry M are a relatively small cosmetics company based in London that have been around for 22 years. They are the self-professed "most colourful name in cosmetics" and specialise in providing a range of eye-shadows, lipsticks and nail varnishes in a profusion of colours. I have been a big of Barry M Dazzle Dusts for a couple of years now. I find them preferable to the eye-shadows offered by the big names in cosmetics for a variety of ... ...a black lid bearing the Barry M logo in gold. On the bottom of each pot there is a sticker with the shade number on it. Generally they are applied to the eyelids, for best results with professional make up brushes. The powders are gorgeously silky and glide on easily leaving a perfectly even result. As the name suggests the Dusts are all pearlised for a iridescent finish. Dazzle Dusts can be applied to the eyes as they are, or blended with normal ...

...always liked the look of Barry M products but never really brought anything from their range due to thinking it was too expensive. I first came across Barry M about 3 years ago when I went to the Clothes Show Live and there was a big Barry M stall filled with goodie bags, at the time I hadn’t known whether Barry M was a good product or not and decided to not buy anything from their range. My friend on the other hand did, looking back now I really ... ...friend used to wear the Barry M eye shadows or mascaras it would always look so nice and stood out, so last year I decided to put it on my Christmas list (you can never be too old to have a Christmas list you know). To my luck I received a Barry M “Get the Look” Dazzle Dust eye shadow set, the “Get the Look” part is just basically a step by step instruction guide on how to put the eye shadow on. Advantages: Amazing range of colours - something to suit everyone! Disadvantages: If you drop or spill is hard to clean up!
I have used Barry M Dazzle Dust for years, ever since buying my first pot I have been hooked on the amazing colours - especially their range of greens.
I always like to an effort when it comes to my eye make up, having quite striking green eyes I have found that using a nice bright colour on them really makes them stand out and I always get compliments when I use these Dazzle Dusts.

Advantages: Lots of colours, blendable, vibrant, lasts long, eye catching Disadvantages: Can be messy
I've been using Barry M's dazzle dust for years now and there's a very good reason for that...they're fantastic! The eye shadow/eye dust comes in little pots but they're totally packed with beautiful colour inside. Here's what the Barry M website said about it - " A spectacular collection of breath taking loose, highly pearlised powder available in a profusion of colours to enhance your eyes, cheeks or lips.
Each little pot contains multiple facets ... ...and sheen.
These luscious shades can be applied bright and bold or shimmering and subtle, with over 60 original colours to choose from everyone can find a favourite pot or two or three… "
Well, I actually found a lot more than two or three pots that I liked. Out of the 70 colours they have, I probably don't like about 2 of them! I first started buying these from Superdrug, but they're also sold at Boots and possibly a few other places but they're ...

Advantages: Wide range of colours, long lasting, blends easily, cheap Disadvantages: Smudges too easily, application can be difficult, not portable
...made by the cosmetics company Barry M. It is sold at superdrug and Topshop's flagship store in London. It is sold in 86 different colours, so there is certainly something for everyone. It is versatile and can be used as an eyeliner with a wet brush or mixed with vaseline to become a blusher/highlighter or lipgloss. I came across it by chance and the company are not very well known, often discovered by word of mouth.
Why I bought it
At halloween ... ...it saying Dazzle dust by barry m and their web adress. The pot looks tiny but a little goes a long way and the powder is tightly packed so there is a lot more there than you would expect. Reasonably tough, not like bourjois packaging for their blushers and eyeshadows which breaks easily, rendering it useless. I would be worried that the glass may break but it's thick. As long as you screw the lid on properly there should be no leaks in your makeup ...

Advantages: Long lasting, great colours Disadvantages: Can get messy
I adore BarryMDazzledust its my favourite item in my make up bag. I only own 3 of the colours in the Dazzledust range but I use them on every night out. I was a huge fan of MAC pigments until I discovered the Dazzledust and they are so much cheaper and very similar to the Mac pigment.
I have very sensitive eyes so I was surprised that I had no allergic reaction to the dazzledusts.
My favourite colours are Parrot Green, Silvery Black and Grey. I always apply a base to my eyelid to hold the colour then using an eye shadow brush I apply my base colour to the lid then apply a darker colour up to the crease. I often wet a liner brush and dip it in the pot to use the dazzledust as an eye liner.
My make up lasts all night and when I forget to remove my makeup its always still perfect in the morning and not hard to remove at all ...
Advantages: small, compact, pretty, vibrant, sexy, portable and strong packaging Disadvantages: goes everywhere and makes your makeup look over done
BarryMDazzledust for the eyes is a cute product. BarryM cosmetics is well known to be the most colourful product in the industry. There are over 60 different shades. Most colours appear very bright in the jar but go on sheer and light. Therefore, you may need a base or a couple of coats to get the full effect of the colour. They come in small glass jars with fitted black plastic lids. The glass jars are very sturdy and heavy like MAC Fluidline/Stila Shadow Pots. they are unbreakable and easy to travel around with. The product is good for those who like loose eye shadow.
I like the silver because it goes with a lot of things and is prety to look at although it goes everywhere. The glitter makes one feel pretty and sexy. Its a really cute product.

Advantages: Lasts well, colour Disadvantages: No application, easily spilt
This op is on a BarryM PRODUCT, not the range in general. My suggested product never got added :0(
I've just bought my latest pot of dazzledust from the BarryM range and I'm about to write on how much I adore these little pots!
WHAT IS BARRYM?
BarryM is a well known cosmetics range. The range is usually found in large Superdrug stores. No BarryM product or ingredient has ever been tested on animals which I like hearing.
The product I'm actually writing on now is a popular one from the range and many people have bought it regardless of the price it is! This product is the, BarryMDazzleDust designed for eyes.
WHAT IS THE PRODUCT LIKE?
BarryM's dazzledust for eyes is basically a 'diddy' pot full of loose highly pearlised powder which when applicated with a brush lights and glistens up your eyes! Basically ...
