Thundering Basslines and cool looks
Advantages: Great looks, great price, good build quality Disadvantages: A little 'neck' heavy but just takes a bit of getting used to
...and 6 string basses, the Epiphone Thunderbird provides some of that 70's mystery at a price that still affordable. Combining cool looks with above average build quality for the price, the Thunderbird bass provides a deep rumble to an outfit. There is nothing refined about this bass, which is not always a bass thing. Its unlikely you'll be playing smooth jazz grooves in this but put your strap down low and grab a pick and you're away. Tones controls ...

Oh my days! What a bass!
Advantages: Good all rounder, good funk sound, versatile and just great quality Disadvantages: Maybe a tad heavy, too nice to damage.
OK, so i started out with a Cort G series bass, which i learnt on and had a lot of fun with. When i decided to step it up, i did LOTS of research and LOTS of trials with different basses. When i finally settled on a musicman stingray H 3eq in trans amber, my life felt complete:D So cosmetically the Stingray is fantastic. Mine is 9 years old, but plays like a dream (pardon the Cliche). The action is very low, and the easy access truss rod system allows ... ...ease. Mine is the 3 EQ model, which is great and very versatile. I like to pan between the treble and bass pots, but an occasional boost on the midrange pot gives that "scooped" sound on the slap solos! The sound is fantastic. I originally fell in love with the Stingray after watching countless videos of Flea on Youtube where his funky licks persuaded me. It does not dissapoint, i have found that flea tone and it makes the hairs on the back of my ...

Best Beginners Bass Guitar. Period.
Advantages: Great Looking, Smooth Neck, Good Sound. Disadvantages: No Active Pickups
...older style that the one Ibanez now advertise and sell, so mine doesnt have the Phat II EQ Bass Boost control that newer models now come eqipt with.
The body is Agathis, which is not a great wood for guitar bodies, but ibanez use it well to get the best out of it. All basses/guitars in this price range use it, as it is the cheapest musical wood. This wood is a relative of true mahogany and gives nearly the same tonal characterists. Warm lows with ... ...this bass is very impressive. Ibanez are famous for thier hard rock stylings, and my bass is the jet black colour. It looks supersleek, and with a little cleaning it is possible to get the finish looknig as good as new, even after a year. All the hardware is silver, which looks more modern that gold, and it goes well with the instrument.
There are a few slight problems I have had with mine, and I'll go through them here.
My tonal control for the ...

First Bass that you couldn't forget
Advantages: Alder body, P/J pickup, nice warm and bright tone, versatile, very light, great playability Disadvantages: so-so pickup quality
This was my first bass ,made in Indonesia, and i am still using it until now. In my opinion this is a great bass, even for an intermediate player. I played mainly alternative rock, japanese rock, and sometimes metal, and this bass suits me well. P/J pickup combination enabling me to create various kind of tone, even though the quality is not that good ( i would like to replace them with EMGs or Bartolinis ). The action, fit, and finish are very nice, ... ...no major flaws. The reliability also dependable, i 've played the instruments for one years and it had no problems at all. So the final judgment is: this is a great bass for beginner to intermediate player, compared to other bass in the same range price such as Squier , RBX 270 is definitely the best. A really first bass that you couldn't forget. Thats my review, sorry if my english kinda sux ^^ ...

Getting back to Bass-ics
Advantages: Good quality budget guitar Disadvantages: none really
...I found a Yamaha RBX170 4 string bass on a pick up only deal in Ringwood, a place that I pass through regularly. This bass retails between £120 - £150, putting it in the higher end of the beginners' market. When I collected it, along with the 30 Watt amplifier which I got with it for a very reasonable £73, it was a bit grubby and looked as though it had been used for serving pizza. There were several torn and grubby stickers on it and I feared that ... ...as you would expect from Yamaha and this shows through, I don't believe that the previous owner was over careful with it but there are no serious marks in the finish. As you can see from the picture, the finish shows every finger mark so if there is a disadvantage with this guitar that would be it. I'm very pleased with my purchase and, once the restoration process is finished I hope to list it on eBay and recoup my outlay. ...
