I am on an insane quest to try new things; things I have never tried before. When I began my quest I assumed that there would be some things that I wouldn’t like. However despite my best efforts I could not find such things. Every chocolate bar I tried I liked. So I thought, I know! Liquorice. Nope, like that too. So I trawled through Ciao to see what was getting low ratings and stumbled across Fruit Allsorts.
I had of course seen the advert son ... ...read the reviews with some interest and wondered how on earth they could replace the liquorice in the allsorts. The reviews did not seem too complimentary. Ah-ha, thought I., here is something that I can try and then I can vent my spleen as to how awful they are.
Or at least that was the plan.
Chances are you will have seen the bags of Fruit Allsorts if you frequent the sweetie aisle of your local supermarket or visit newsagents on a regular basis. ...

Advantages: Great.....if you don't like liquorice. Disadvantages: Sickly sweet, will rot your teeth out, not to mention the number of calories.
...to do a review on Bassett's Fruit Allsorts.
Now you have to understand that I'm not a huge fan of liquorice.....half the time I can't even spell it, but that's really beside the point....LOL...so when Bassetts came out with a fruit version of their allsorts, I was over the moon! I actually found about these from my boyfriend who works at Cadbury's, as he brought home a bag of them for everyone to try! Yippee!! (Ok so it's not chocolate, but he is ... ...On some bags, the name Bassett's appears on the top of the bag, surrounded by a black background and the word NEW is in a big green bubble, just so it sticks out a liitle to tell you that it is a new product!
The bags come in 215g bags. More than enough for me!
***WHAT DO THEY LOOK LIKE***
These sweets look very much like the liquorice versions but extremely colourful. Here is a breakdown for you!

Advantages: Colourful sweets - nice idea if you don’t like liquorice Disadvantages: Sickly sweet and sugary
There cannot be many people who haven’t heard of Bassett’s Liquorice Allsorts - after all they’ve been sold since 1899. Nowadays, Trebor Bassett is part of the huge Cadburys conglomerate but they still produce 14 million Liquorice Allsorts everyday. I have always enjoyed Liquorice Allsorts, as they are not only colourful and pretty, they’re delicious and fun to eat. Naturally I was very eager to try Bertie Bassett’s new Fruit Allsorts – launched ... ...that Fruit Allsorts were a delicious tangy flavoured collection of fruit sweets - similar textures, colours, mixtures and layers as the more traditional Liquorice Allsorts, but without any liquorice. I’m still not convinced that this is a particularly good marketing pitch from Bassett’s, as Allsorts are synonymous with liquorice and have been for over 100 years now. That aside, I decided to give them a try.

Advantages: Similar to the original in appearance Disadvantages: Far too sweet
This weekend I had a huge sugar craving and felt like a big blow out on Saturday night, while relaxing in front of the TV. In our local Tesco I spied a bag of Bassett’s Fruit Allsorts and had to try them. I’d seen the advert on the telly and it had made me laugh, so I thought I would give them a try. You know the one – it has Bertie Bassett climbing onto a couple of square sweets and the annoying man commenting on Bertie’s heels. Actually it’s not ... ...Liquorice Allsorts, and I remember when I was a child, my dad used to be very territorial with his Allsorts, and I was only allowed the yellow and pink coconut ones, as they were the only ones he didn’t like!! When I think about it now, I didn’t really enjoy eating them at all, but I just wanted to steal his sweets.
Bassett’s Fruit Allsorts are relatively new on the scene, and come in a red plastic bag, which distinguishes them from the usual liquorice ...

I love Bassett’s Liquorice Allsorts, I love the colours and the taste of most of the sweets - except the Liquorice ones, which end up going to the dog, so when I found out about the Bassett Fruit Allsorts, I was over the moon. Maybe naively I expected the original Allsorts - just minus the offending liquorice.
The bag itself was easy to spot on the shelf, being a nice red colour, with Bertie and a ‘post it note’ claiming ‘No liquorice here’. The ... ...bag - didn’t take notice of the weight... too happy to have found them! Anyway, decided to take them for the car journey... big mistake.... wish I’d got something else instead. We opened the bag within a few miles of home - the anticipation was just too great. We almost needed sunglasses - the colours of the sweets is dazzling - but having checked out the ingredients, and seen the number of E numbers, I really shouldn’t have been surprised, and if ...
