One of the most compelling origins for one of the most infamous comic book villians of all time, Alan Moore's The Killing Joke, provides a heartbreaking answer to the history and motivations behind the Joker.
If you haven't already read it, I am hesitant to give too much about this groundbreaking graphic novel's plot away. I will, however, go so far as to say that the Joker was once all too human and that his issues with Batman go far deeper than just a need to kill Gotham's Dark Knight. The Joker doesn't want to only kill his nemesis but to drag him into the insanity and hell that a series of bad events cast his own agonized soul into years before.
It will always be confusing to me why The Killing Joke has not yet been adapted for film. The story by Alan Moore is so strong and powerful that it begs to be told. However, Brian Bolland's art is so beautiful and detailed, from the Joker sitting on a pile of dolls to a few scattered rain drops in a dark puddle, that I will happily try to overlook this sad fact.
The last few images and the final dialogue where the Joker confesses some of his emotions to his foe via a joke are some of the most poignant in the whole realm of comics, past and present.
Advantages: An interesting look at the world of Batman Disadvantages: Short and possibly now out of print
Writer - Alan Moore (Watchmen, Swamp Thing, League of Extrordinary Gentlemen)
Artist - Brian Bolland

Plot
The plot to this short one off graphic novel is simple. The Joker has escaped from Arkham Asylum, intent of causing pain and suffering on one man. Only this time it isn't the man you would think it is.
Written by the legendary Alan Moore, it bears all the hallmarks of some of his longer works. Small ... ...of a hero, even managing to show sympathy for the psychotics of the Joker
Without revealing too much of the intense storyline, and getting too caught up in the ideas thrown into this very clever story arc, all I can really say is that this plot brings together some of the older pieces of DC's Batman mythology (the crippling of Barbara Gordon, the creation of the Joker) and tangles it all together into one big question...
What does it take to reduce ...

Advantages: A action packed comic book with a bit of humour Disadvantages: Out of print
This comic book about Batman represents one of Batman's greatest enemies; The Joker. The Joker has tried time over time to get rid of Batman, but Batman has always triumphed over Joker. However, Joker decides to come up with a plan in order to get rid of the caped crusader once and for all. A plan that might be considered hilarious (only to the Joker that is), but a plan that might work for once. However, as though Joker assumed that his plan will ... ...Joker is defeated and Batman triumphs again over evil. I think that this comic book about Batman is one of the best comic books ever made with alot of action and suspense. However, this is an old comic book which is out of print. You won't find this comic book in any convenience store or a comic book store that sells current date comic books. You might find it at an antique store, or on Ebay. It is a very valuable comic book if it's kept in mint ...
