Northern strike is a great add on to Battlefield 2142. Although not much in the way of gameplay changes, there are new vehicles and some great new maps.
There are two new vehicles the goliath for the EU team and the Speeder for the PAC. The goliath is a slow yet extremely powerful vehicle capable of destroying entire squads with ease and with the ability to self heal it is not easily destroyed. Whereas the Speeder is a fast moving vehicle able to hit and run at high speeds and destroy any infantry in its path.
The new maps are designed to create bottle neck points such as bridges to force the opposing forces to fight head on to win. This creates more action packed fire fights and more tactical play becomes neccesary. There is a role for everyone in these battles, Snipers can keep infantry from getting through pressure points, Assualt soldiers can charge head on into the fight or attempt to keep other soldiers alive during their tasks, engineers can keep vehicle numbers down and protect their infantry from abliteration at the hands of enemy goliaths while support can cover charging soldiers as they run into the fray.
This game kkeps the gameplay fresh for battlefield players and at just £7, who can complain. A brilliant booster pack.
