We refitted our kitchen this time last year so I'm reviewing the items we carefully selected. Our previous kitchen was very basic but we'd saved quite a few penny's so spent a lot of time researching on what gadgets we could have to make our kitchen truly amazing.
We had never had a chimney hood before so we were not sure what to go for but after looking around we decided we wanted a stainless steel one with a glass design.
~The cost:
In total our hood cost us £116 and we purchased it from Built in kitchen appliances in Liverpool. This was the best price we could find. On the internet prices were varying from £149+. Obviously we bought this a year ago so the prices may have now reduced.
~Style & dimensions:
We opted for a stainless steel chimney and control panel with a curved glass canopy.
The control panel ...
Advantages: Flexibility of flue lengths, design and build quality. Disadvantages: None
This is a good bit of kit, I was looking for a hood of curved glass design that had a short flue option, unless you live in London or a mansion with high ceilings you tend to have to cut these things to size, with the baumatic I could accommodate the minimum distance from hob to hood that you require. When the flue is not extended with the flue extension piece it achieves 540mm, this is a perfect height for my kitchen, and this way I didn't have to take the saw to it.
The hood looks stunning in brushed steel with the curved glass sparkling from the reflection of the two 20 Watt lights fitted below. The controls are electronic easy touch type that control the three fan speeds and the lights.
A vent kit was supplied to vent to atmosphere, I am running mine on recirc with the carbon filters fitted, it takes two filters (not ...
Advantages: Noise level; Stylish looks; Easy to maintain Disadvantages: None to report
This is a very stylish bit of kit from Baumatic. It was easy to install, and the flue extender should accommodate most ceiling heights. Our kitchen guy even commented that this is one of the more straightforward installs he has had to do, even when we requested it be set against the stainless steel splashback we had bought.
The controls are very easy to use, and with its 2 x 20w halogen lights on at night, it looks very smart indeed. The glass plinth really contrasts well with the s/steel flue and canopy, although fingermarks on the latter require judicious rubbing with a cloth. The tangential fan is not overly noisy even when on max extraction. Maintenance and replacement of bulbs and filters is straightforward and for the price, this machine appears hard to beat - we paid £115 incl delivery. ...
