Advantages: free extended warranty - reasonable price Disadvantages: bad motors on earlier models, service engineers might cut corners.
...again - this was becouse the baumatic engineer had only installed it with ONE screw not TWO as required, It's a good looking unit - but noisey. Glad I've got the free extended warranty and the service department and engineers are very good - which they need to be ! ... more

It will cut out due to overheating - so we have to have the kitchen window slightly ajar for feed cold air to the system - I guess this is smart - but a pain when you have 5 gas rings, with 5 boiling pans. The motor has failed 3 times and been replaced twice. The entire unit was replace on the 4th occasion. However the chimney arrived dented so we kept the original. Even so - we had a terrible rattle coming from the motor again - this was becouse the baumatic engineer had only installed it with ONE screw not TWO as required, It's a good looking unit - but noisey. Glad I've got the free extended warranty and the service department and engineers are very good - which they need to be !

Rang Baumatic and they told me that their hoods are only made to extract odours, not steam. Checked the hand book, yep, that's exactly what it says. Total waste of money, as I expected any cooker hood designed to go over a hob would extract steam from pans, otherwise what's the point? ...
