Baumatic BT 19.3 SS

Advantages: nice looking
Disadvantages: terrible quality - lousy customer service

...I bought a Baumatic BT3500SS Range Cooker, and despite very light use, the main heating element has burned out twice in two years. The cooker is now out of warranty and Baumatic want a £75 call-out charge to replace the part. Despite explaining to them that there is obviously a defect in the cooker and that it is not fit for purpose, Baumatic don't want to know. short sighted customer service from Baumatic - the product looks very solid but obviously the components are shoddy. Despite the part itself still being under warranty, Baumatic insist that they will only replace the part if replaced by their own "qualified" engineer - hence the &75 quid callout for a part not worth £20. I wouldn't buy Baumatic again!... Read review

Advantages: Looks nice
Disadvantages: Very very noisy and doesn't extract steam

...I bought this hood to install over the hob to extract steam from pans and food odours from the kitchen. However, I noticed that it didn't seem to extract steam very well and even with only boiling one pan, the steam condenses on the glass and steel underneath the hood and then drips off onto the hob and worktop. It has made the hood rusty underneath too (even though it's stainless steel!) Rang Baumatic and they told me that their hoods are only made to extract odours, not steam. Checked the hand book, yep, that's exactly what it says. Total waste of money, as I expected any cooker hood designed to go over a hob would extract steam from pans, otherwise what's the point?... Advantages: Flexibility of flue lengths, design and build quality.

...This is a good bit of kit, I was looking for a hood of curved glass design that had a short flue option, unless you live in London or a mansion with high ceilings you tend to have to cut these things to size, with the baumatic I could accommodate the minimum distance from hob to hood that you require. When the flue is not extended with the flue extension piece it achieves 540mm, this is a perfect height for my kitchen, and this way I didn't have to take the saw to it. The hood looks stunning in brushed steel with the curved glass sparkling from the reflection of the two 20 Watt lights fitted below. The controls are electronic easy touch type that control the three fan speeds and the lights.
