I bought this machine for its stainless steel good looks. While its appearance does not disappoint, I cannot say the same for its performance and user-friendliness. The worst thing is the noise it makes on its spin cycle. If you live in a flat and you want to remain on speaking terms with your neighbours, choose another machine.
It's a fiddly machine to use. Unlike, for example, a Zanussi, which can be totally controlled with buttons, the Baumatic combines buttons with dials. Unless the washing dial is set precisely -and this is not as easy as it sounds - the machine won't work. Another annoyance is always having to remember to depress the half-load button for the drying cycle. During the drying cycle the machine makes funny grinding noises for no apparent reason. The word that comes to mind is 'clunky'. I would expect a more sophisticated mechanism in a modern machine.
Finally, the door-opening mechanism is temperamental and there is no audible click when it is ready.
Please note that the review process insisted I rate the machine's durability and safety. I have no idea how durable it will prove to be. Similarly, I have no idea how 'safe' it is. Since there was no option to omit these grades, I included arbitrary ones.
