Advantages Baby loves food, good variety, no additives

Disadvantages sometimes overly runny

When weaning my daughter, I found it useful to have jars around for when I was too lazy to cook some food! They are also great when travelling, as you just open the jar and the food is ready to eat!

The difference between the other jars and Beechnut jars is that Beechnut is made for special diets. Most of the food jars are Kosher, or Gluten-Free or Soy-Free.

My daughter really loves the Beechnut Jars - in fact she likes it a lot more than my own food :-( But I know when giving her the jars that the food is made well with no unecessary ingredients. They contain exactly what I would have made myself, and they are pureed perfectly (unlike my own food which always has lumps!). Sometimes the Stage 1 jars I find are a bit too runny, but as long as it is safe and doesn't have lumps for her to choke on, I'm not worried.

Beechnut Jars are available for 3 stages -
Stage 1 - from about 4 months
Stage 2 - from about 6 months
Stage 3 - from about 9 months
Table time - from about 13 months

Beechnut also makes First advantage jars- from about 6 months with DHA and ARA (nutrients found naturally in breastmilk)

Stage 1 is fruit and veg, and Stage 2 upwards moves on to meats etc as well as different mixes of fruits and veg.

Stage 1 jars include Applesauce, Pears, Beef, Butternut Squash, Chicken, Bananas, Lamb, Peaches, Sweet Potatoes, Sweet Carrots, Sweet Peas, Green Beans, Turkey and Veal.

Stage 2 Jars includes all the above ingredients but mixed together, for instance Chicken with Sweet potato and Rice, or Cinnamon Raisin Pears with Apples or Macaroni & Beef with Vegetables, to give examples of a few. They also include more fruits and veg such as mangoes, strawberries, pineapple and sweetcorn.

I have given my daughter Stages 1 and 2 so far and she has been really happy with both. As you go up the stages, the jars get bigger and the variety of food increases.

Beechnut also makes rice and cereals, which my daughter has for breakfast and is addicted to! I wanted to give her a proper baby cereal rather than go straight to weetabix because I know Beechnut makes food specially for babies.

A very good thing about Beechnut is that it is available all over the world - the same jars, so you can trust it is the same food! Whereever you are travelling, it should be available. On their website - www.beechnut.com, it shows exactly where you can get the jars wherever you are.

In England, you can find Beechnut Stages jars in kosher shops more than the regular supermarkets since they cater for special diets as well.

I'll probably be making my own baby food when I wean Oliver, but it might be handy to have a couple of jars in for when I go out or am having a lazy day. Good review! Kat x
