Where's my Kick
Advantages: Pleasnat enough Disadvantages: not enough kick
Intro
My son bought me a bottle of Crabbie’s Original Alcoholic Ginger beer last week and it has sat in the fridge chilling until I thought it time for me to chill. The dark brown bottle with the distinctive black labelling isn’t exactly eye catching but it looks good. The bottle holds 500ml of the shandy coloured liquid and had one of those tops whereby you have to search for the good old fashioned bottle opener in the draw labelled everything ... ...night’s British Comedy Awards, which was sponsored by Crabbie’s that my attention was drawn to the well-chilled drink hiding in the fridge. Crabbie’s was formed in 1801 in Leith, which if you are not familiar with is the port town of Edinburgh. The elephant logo on the cap of the bottle signifies the fact that the ginger used in the production of Crabbie’s is still after all those years shipped from the east. There website gives some unusual info ...

An interesting beer
Advantages: Excellent taste Disadvantages: Very pricey
Innis & Gunn Oak Aged Beer
This is a very distinctive beer with a very distinctive taste, tastes of oak with a sugestion of whisky, sorry that sounds very lah de dah wine tasting, but that is the best description of it.
However this is a very nice beer in the smaller bottle, 330ml. It is available in 750ml bottles but somehow the flavour disappears and is disappointing.
It is a pricey beer £1.80 for a small bottle and around £3.00 for the bigger ... ...£2.00 - £2.50 which does taste different and if you have someone who likes beer they would appreciate this.
This is a beer to drink at a special occasion but it does seem to be to pricey for waht it is, a very nice beer but not too special.
However on saying that you will not be disappointed in trying it. ...

Are you a gingernut?
Advantages: Not full of nasty artificial rubbish Disadvantages: A bit pricy for the relatively small size
Here's a question for you: Are you a gingernut like me?
When I went to do a bit of shopping at my local Spar shop this afternoon, I decided to also get a few of the bottles of Fentimans drinks that they've started selling recently (watch this space for more reviews!).
Overall, this isn't a *new* drink - the Fentiman family have been producing for just over a hundred years since the company was founded in 1905 by Thomas Fentiman (who was also the ... ...as the company logo on their neck label and bottle caps), but it's a relatively new line that my local Spar have started selling.
The drink comes in an old-fashioned dark glass bottle which like a bottle opener type cap but it's a twist off one (it says this on the lid) and the bottle has word 'BOTANICALLY' rasied in the glass just under the neck. I personally found the bottle fairly easy to open but the lid is a bit sharp on the palm of the hand ...

Banana Beer? Whatever Next!
Advantages: A nice beer Disadvantages: No distinctive taste
I like to try a variety of many different beers and was delighted to see this on the shelves of my local supermarket.
It was a bit pricey £1.80 for a 500ml bottle but worth giving it a go and coming from the Well's brewery worth it.
However it did not live up to my expectations. The beer itself is a nice crisp taste and on its own would be a nice beer in the Summer months.
But it is advertising itself as a BANANA beer. To my tastes there is no ... ...I tried this beer from another off licence a couple of years ago when it had a different label, then it did taste of banana and was different and enjoyable, I think that this has been changed for the market and unfortunately they have destroyed the tase.
However id you like a nice beer this is ok but don't expect anything special. ...
