The opening intro pretty much demonstrates the wackiness and excitement that BAR brings. The championship mode is the place where you’ll spend hours driving your bug, but there’s also a two-player competition and multiplayer ... ...wrong. After really settling down with BAR I started to grasp the concept of what it was trying to do. Beetle Adventure Racing appears like an average Kart racer, but take a closer look and you’ll discover a challenging racing adventure with lots of twists and turns along the way. ...

What a pity. Review ofBeetle Adventure Racing (N64)by
Jobby
Advantages: Massive, multi-layered tracks. Oh, and there's a T-Rex! Disadvantages: Requires lots of patience. Not much replay value.
Ummmm. Beetle Adventure Racing. On paper, this game has the makings of a classic. Huge tracks, hundreds of short cuts, and cool Beetles to race. But along the way something went wrong. Unfortunately, the very details which should have made it great have been its downfall. The tracks are just too big. It takes between 6 and 9 minutes to complete a three lap race. There is a tournament mode which allows you to un-lock new tracks, but it can be sooooo ... ...any faults, just to get to the final round, and one mistake and you've lost it. The tracks are well designed but you won't have a chance to admire them because you'll be too worried about making a mistake and loosing it. This results in one quickly tiring of this game, which is a pity because it had a lot of potential. ...

Advantages: Great racer, millions of shortcuts, good selection of cars Disadvantages: Tracks can be too long and can become boring in one player
Beetle Adventure Racing is probably the most fun and frantic racing game I have played on the Nintendo 64. The multiplayer battle is great fun especially when you are trying to push your freinds of the edge of the Rooftop and they are firing missiles at you! The single player game is quite fun too with hidden suprises on each course including a cheat menu which increases the games fun due to the fact that you can customise almost anything you want. ...

Beetle Adventure Racing really shines in its single-player mode. Even without the appeal of letting you find each of the track's shortcuts and collect all the boxes to open up the game's secrets, the basic racing model is quite sound. The tracks are well made, and the gameplay is challenging to the point where you'll begin memorizing where you want to be on the other side of the turn to ensure getting that extra turbo-boost (something I haven't felt ... ...tacks, Beetle Adventure Racing is a great deal of fun. It's an excellent game, whatever genre or sub-genre you try to classify it in, and its flaws don't drag it down nearly as much as they might sound. This game is not to be missed, highly recommended, and so on. ...
