Advantages: Price, Performance, Finish, Stupendous Value Disadvantages: Not an SM58, maybe a bit “bright” for some
...the empty, thin feel of a cheaply made microphone. One minor annoyance is that both the SM58 and the XM8500 don’t have an on/off switch. You can pay an extra tenner or so to get an SM58 with one (the SM58 LC) but there is no such option for the Behringer.
The figures quoted probably don’t mean much to the average punter so what I am saying is that if you want a cracking good mike, with a top sound, that looks/feels/does exactly as the biggest most expensive brands do and you don’t want to pay inflated prices, look no further than the Behringer XM8500 !...

...installation and setup was confusing and it took me a while to get it working properly. it is necessary to download software from the behringer website in order for the device to function fully. this surprised me as most stuff is shipped with a CD.
it feels a bit plastic and cheaply built compared with other motorised mixers. the motors are pretty quiet and really fast. they are not as smooth as the more expensive motorised mixers but with the next cheapest thing being about £500 im not surprised.
i have been using one of these for about 6 months, and with the BCFview.exe application from the behringer website it is extremely valuable. having a hands-on control for mixing a track makes a massive difference for me....

Advantages: Cheap, looks good, sounds good Disadvantages: hard to get to lower controls, confusing battery position.
...doesn’t get damaged by continual use.
Also on the switch is the labels “OUT” and “IN” for the jack connections, the word Behringer, and in a large box ULTRA METAL is in bold capitals. Underneath UM100 is printed in smaller writing. All in all, the switch looks good on the device and doesn’t stand out.
To operate the switch a small push of the foot is needed but not to much force is needed for it to operate. When the switch is pressed, it springs up but the red LED light on the top will light up and the distortion is on. The reason the switch doesn’t stay down light a light switch is that it is on a spring and the rest is all electronically controlled. When you don’t want the distortion anymore, you simply press it again and it goes off.
It is a good control and a lot smoother than others I have tried. In my opinion it is very easy...

The Behringer DJX700 has to be the best value for money DJ mixer on the market. it is a slight copy of the more expencive Pioneer DJM600S.
