Behringer Xenyx - A Bedroom Musician's Dream.

Advantages: Cheap, Professional, Easy to use
Disadvantages: None

Behringer has gained a deserved reputation amongst musicians on a budget for its ability to produce high-quality, low-price equipment that will rival the quality of the likes of brands such as Korg, whilst still letting you keep a roof over your head. The Xenyx 2442FX proves just that. At around £199.99 RRP, the model retails at half the price of it competitors. Yet it pains me that people still buy from companies such as Korg, Boss, and Casio - all that they are doing is buying the brand name. Behringer know that musicians often aren't made of money, which i find refreshing, and means that Behringer are amongst the brands i can trust. What Does the Xenyx 2442FX Do? The Xenyx is a 24-Input powered mixer that has 10 Phantom Power Microphone Preamps; several channel inputs for 1/4 inch jacks or phantom inputs; a state ...

Fantasitc Value Mixer

Advantages: Smart FX Processor, Small Size, Looks Great!
Disadvantages: No individual channel monitoring.

----------------------- BACKGROUND ----------------------- I purchased this mixer because I wanted to produce a nice and professional podcast for my website. I'd had experience with Behringers UB1202 Mixer, which I used for mixing live vocals and acoustic guitars. It was ideal for outputting the mix to a PA and using the "Tape Out" to record the mix onto my laptop at the same time. It was only when I came to purchase the same unit for my podcast, that I realised they'd upgraded their UB range to a XENYX range. The website proclaims "With close to one million units sold, the UB mixer series has become one of the most popular mixer series of all times that has no doubt connected musicians all over the world. Our new XENYX mixers will take you to an even higher plane". I though "Great, even better!", and purchased one right away ...

Behringer FX600 pedal -More sounds than a blender full of cats

Advantages: A lot of effects in one unit. Good price
Disadvantages: The Blue LED is a bit bright and can be distracting

When you get bored of hearing your guitar making ordinary noises it is time to plug in an effects pedal. An effects pedal is a foot operated gizmo that you plug into the line between an instrument (usually a guitar) and the amplifier. Its purpose is to modify the signal from the instrument. There is a huge range of pedals available, back in the 1970s I had two that are now considered to be classics, the Dunlop Crybaby Wah wah pedal and, I kid you not, a distortion pedal that gloried in the unlikely and slightly pervy name of The Big Muff Fuzz Box. Later on more advanced effects were available, with octavers, phase shifter and chorus heralding a range of modulating effects. These range hugely in price but i have discovered the Behringer range of pedals which offer great quality at very fair prices. The FX600 is a multi ...
