Beijing Olympics 2008

... The Olympics Games of 2008 took place in Beijing, the capital city of China. China was awarded these games in 2001, and have spent the past 7 years creating the amazing venues that we have seen on our television screens over the past 2 weeks across the city. These venues include the 90,000 ... Read review

Gold Rush!

Advantages: World records smashed to pieces, the sheer talent of the Athletes, 19 Golds for GB!
Disadvantages: Drug cheats, we didn't perform that well in Athletics

...behind.

The Beijing Olympics started off with a bang with ones of the most spectacular Opening Ceremonies ever to be witnessed. The Olympics opened on the 8th of August, and boy did China put on one hell of a show. It featured everything from fantastic choreography, traditional Chinese music, and of course the now infamous miming girl who replaced the girl deemed "too unattractive" to appear in front of the world singing ...

The Beijing Olympics definitely carried on the Olympics in fine tradition, despite many places in the world being unsure about the games being held in China. China did an amazing job with the purpose built venues for the games, but I do wonder what they will be used for now the games are over (and once the Paralympic games are completed too). All of the athletes have commented on how nice the Athletes village was, and despite worries ... more

Beijing Olympics

Advantages: More gold medals
Disadvantages: Many olympians just missed out

The Beijing Olympics was the greatest olympics for Great Britain in the last god knows how long. Especially in the swimming pool, where Dame Rebecca Adlington bought home two god medal glories. She also broke a world record for the 400m freestyle. She was not the only Britain who bought home gold. Chris Hoy bought home an astonishing 3 gold medals for his track cycling and sprint. Christine Ohuruogu won a gold medal for her efforts in the 400m ...
...were mostly for track cycling and rowing to which we can argue that the British are best. There were also 13 silver medals won again mostly to do with water sports and track cycling, although there were a few won for athletics. One of which was won by triple-jump favourite Phillips Idowu. The Great Britan team this olympics have been the best for a long time and we can definitely conclude that as there are many youngsters on this team, the 2012 ...

Was the olympics as good as it seemed?

Advantages: great opening ceremony
Disadvantages: not so good crowd level

The Beijing Olympics was a real success on the television screen looking smooth and well organized , but was it? Beijing opening ceremony was I have to say very well done using technology, cleverness and obviously a lot of money to attract an audience from all across the globe, I think it will be hard to beat for London in 2012. Further more the press who went to see the games have said how wonderful everything was and how they got through security ...
...there side. This was done by allowing the press freedom during the games and allowing hem to get through security quickly. Where as for the general public it would take up 1 hour to get through. In addition the stadiums were not full in some major sports such as basketball you could see only a few people in the crowd, I can't imagine what the para olympics will be like. More over most of the general of China were not allowed in due to the fact that ...

Beijing Olympics 2008

Advantages: Great watching on TV
Disadvantages: Too much coverage in lower games

I think that the Beijing 2008 Olympics will be won by United States, they are high on the list of receiving medals and have done a superb job. United Kingdom is second best, they seem to be doing very well with the help of the swimmers and the boating activities plus the running however, United States are also proving to be excellent in the swimmers and the boating activities but also have loads of talent in other areas like javlin, hockey and other sports that I did not think they could actually win a gold medal for. I think the Beijing games are superb however I think they went over the top on the stadium and the surroundings. Surely they should be saving money on improving the air polution rather than the birds nest. ...

or grouping of nationality. This is supposed to bring the athletes of the world together as one nation. The Medal Presentation is the important part of the Games as this is where the Medals are awarded to the athletes. Depending of where they come, they'll win either a Gold, Silver or Bronze medal. The Games are now limited to a maximum of 28 sports, 301 events and only 10,500 athletes. 2008 Olympics- Beijing Boycotts The latest Olympic Games held in Beijing could have been other games where a lot of boycotts happened due to the protests of China's poor human rights record and because of the problems with Tibet, Darfur and Taiwan. However no nations actually withdrew from the games. The 2008 Olympics could have been faced with hundreds of countries boycotting, however it went perfectly and all countries that were ...

Review of Olympic Games Beijing 2008: Which country will win the most medals?

Get the Union Jacks out

Advantages: sporting at its best
Disadvantages: the shame of drugs

Olympic Games Beijing 2008: Which country will win the most medals? Wow - is it really 4 years already?! Seeing the coverage that this Olympics games has recieved has been varied in many ways. The human rights stories have come through thick and fast - showing the torments endured by this nation's people. I hope that the profile of this country has been highlighted and that maybe the games being held here will helped heal a torn nation. My predictions for the country winning the most medals are: Country to win most Gold - USA Country to win most Silver - USA Country to win most Bronze -UNIFIED TEAM (ex USSR) So overall winner of most medals could be - USA I predict / hope GB coming within the top 5 countries on the medals table (fingers crossed guys) The reasons for my predictions are ; History The Summer ...
