Having moved into a brand new house from a house where we left all appliances other than the washer/dryer (because it was brand new ) we desperatly needed a fridge freezer. The house is so warm that after a very warm October we could no longer survive with the milk being kept in the fridge. We looked in about 20 different shops and on line, and eventually plumped for the Beko one. A couple of reasons why. The main one being the size of it. There are 7 of us, so a big fridge freezer was the priority. It was delivered on the Saturday afternoon, and got switched on the following day. It was great. The milk was cool and the frozen food stayed frozen. It also looked great in the kitchen. There was a good amount of room both in the fridge for the usual contents, including the night befores pizza!!!

Then on the Thursday, it gave an almighty shudder, and stopped cooling. We knew it had made this almighty noise, but didn't realise it had stopped working as it was still making a noise. So a couple of days later I went into the freezer to find everyhting had thawed. I rang Beko servicing up, who could not get anyone out for at least a week. Forget tghe fact that it was only a few days old. Beko didn't list this a high priority. Forget the fact that we lost food. This wasn't Beko's fault. No matter what I said, Beko weren't taking any responsibilty for the fact that the fridge was faulty after only 4 days of being switched on. Eventually after over a week, and engineer came out who was brilliant. He knew straight away what it was, as Beko are requesting any fault compressors to be returned straight back the the factory. So I got the feeling that there was a batch of faulty compressors.

I always said that you didn't have to go for a well known make with a fridge freezer as it doesn't take to much abuse. But I was so wrong. I went back to the shop as the engineer told me to ask for a replacement, a different make! So I did. We ended up putting £50 towards a better one, but it's far more superior. Even chills in a different way. The new one blows air, as opposed to the more traditional one.

The saying 'you pay for what you get' is so true. Not just the fridge/freezer, but the service. Waiting 10 days to get an engineer out is terrible.
