It had been on the cards for a while the old cooker had seen better days, the handles were breaking off it was dull in colour even though it was supposed to be white. So we decided it was time to sent it to the old cooker heaven in the dump.

It's replacement arrived well packed and protected and prompt. This was a bit of a surprise since previous deliveries from this company which shall remain anonymous have been well behind the time scale they imposed. Still that's all water under the bridge now and we have a BRIGHT new WHITE cooker.

Now how I'm going to spin this out is anybody's guess since as far as I'm concerned a cooker is a cooker and thats it, but apparently once again as the wife reliably informs me this is not the case.

One it had to have a double oven, what the hell for beats me but tick the list it qualifies on that part. It also had to have an integral grill my missus did not want one of those things with the tall back and protruding hood thingy. Check it qualifies once again, right lets get it. Nope there were other criteria to be met. The first imposed by my good self, it had to bee cheap yet sturdy, check again we've now got a whole load of ticks and almost bought it. The last thing was something to do with some protective coating on the burner stands, a quick chat to Mr salesman and he confirms the existence of said magic coating.

The cooker itself is I suppose quite nice to look at although they all look pretty much the same to me. It is definitely a lot brighter and cheery looking than the thing that died. The only thing I was confused about was the fact that working opposite to my previous cooker the knobs initially set the flame to high and further rotation reduces the flame. This is taking a bit of getting used to but it is not a major problem. It has the usual knobs four for the four burners one for the grill and one for the oven. It has a nice little light inside so you can readily check what is burning.

Before using this cooker you must burn off another protective covering on the inside oven and grill this is done by simply turning them on and letting them burn at full heat for 30 minutes. Now wasn't one of the ticks for a protective covering, yes so you've got one not to burn off an done to burn off all pretty straight forward for us guys EH. The device has a rather load hissing sound when in use this I am guessing is for safety since if you forget to light the burner the noise will soon tell you so.

The cooker cost £236 delivered and I am very pleased with it's performance. Since my outlay was not over indulgent I treated us all to a Fish Supper, after all no matter how much it cost it is unlikely it shall ever produce a feast, unless of course burnt offerings count as such. Just a WEE joke there my wife is actually a very good cook and now that she has a cooker with a decent oven perhaps I shall once again fantasize over her rhubarb crumble or delicious sponge cake. No chance if she reads this. All in all I am very pleased with my purchase and what is more to the point so is my wife, she finds it works very well and does a good job. So there is one more tick to add to the list…………………..was anyone counting.

Review of Beko DG582 by korbycat

Advantages: Cheap, small, good gas burners.
Disadvantages: Doesn't get hot enough, cant roast potatoes and chiken at the same time.

I bought this cooker two months ago when we moved into our new house, the cooker in the house was ancient and had been condemned and we needed another one immediately to use for a while until we have a new kitchen installed. It ticked a lot of boxes, so I thought, it was very cheap, fitted into the small space the old one had been in and has a separate grill. In reality, it is awful. I can't fault the burners which work fine, however the knobs turn ...
...other appliance I've ever used, thus it is very easy to turn the knobs anti-clockwise thinking you were turning them off but they are actually just down at the lowest setting but still on, very dangerous. The grill is terrible, it takes a very long time to cook anything, and it is tiny. The worst feature of this cooker though has to be the oven itself. It is only hot on the top of the oven, the bottom shelves remain very cold and has a hot spot ... Read review

Review of Beko DG582 by coolio_1959

Advantages: Good price pleny of features
Disadvantages: None as yet

I recently bought a house to buy to let for a time before becoming a family residence so I was looking for a cooker that wasn't too expensive but ticked all my boxes in terms of being suited to us after we stop renting and have the house back for ourselves. I looked around on the web and this cooker had a seperate oven and grill , not always found on cheaper models, as well as a mix of rapid , semi rapid and standard burners. It has an oven light ...
...looks good in white to go into most kitchens. It came well boxed from a local supplier who matched the best web price I could find . For the price it certainly seems good value to me and I am pleaed with my purchase and have found no downsides as yet. I have put durability as satisfactory as I've not had it long but it looks to be made well to me. ... Read review
