A few months ago I decided to invest in a dishwasher, I could see little downside other than the initial cost, the time and effort saved would be immeasurable. After asking for advice from family and friends I used an online website to purchase this particular model after hearing very good things about it.
Performance/Quality
The Beko DWD4310 has 4 wash settings, a prewash designed to pre rinse heavily soiled items, a rapid cycle that is designed to wash plates which are lightly soiled, an economy setting which washes at a relatively hot temperature and the intensive wash which is designed for heavily soiled pans and plates. Indeed, these work well, though the rapid wash and economy wash can regularly leave dirty marks on even relatively clean plates. I therefore use the hottest setting at all times as a precaution which I should not really have to do.
There are two sections, a roll out section for plates which has a divided compartment for cutlery and a top section for cups and dishes. However a problem does occur following an economy or intensive wash. When
finished I found that plates, cups and glasses were still too hot to handle even an hour after the cycle is fully complete. I have checked this regularly and it happened each time. So whilst the rapid cycle is inadequate the hotter washes which actually wash the dishes make everything too hot to handle for up to an hour afterwards. Having to always use the hot intensive cycle as the colder cycles do not wash adequately mean this dishwasher cannot win any ‘green’ awards. The dishwasher is not of amazing quality, as the economy washes don’t really wash anything at all. 2/5
Ease of Use
Despite some issues wrong with this dishwasher, ease of use is not one of them. As will be mentioned later, cleaning and maintenance is very easy and straightforward. Using the dishwasher is just as easy. From a simple glance it is obvious where to stack items in order for them to be washed correctly, but the manual also describes to optimum way to load the dishwasher. Depending on the dishwasher detergent you use the method of using the dishwasher is slightly different but it is just as easy whatever you use. Simply put the dishes and cutlery into the dishwasher, put in your detergent and turn your dishwasher on the cycle of your choice. 5/5
Durability
The outside of the dishwasher is white hard plastic but is also very resilient to scratches and bumps. The stainless steel interior is very durable and as of yet the interior of mine has not scratched at all. The wire rack inside feels robust but the individual pegs are easily bent and can be difficult to bend back into position. Despite this the dishwasher generally feels durable and safe. 4/5
Noise
This dishwasher is good in terms of sound given off, the stainless steel interior ensures that it gives off as little noise as possible. Whilst it is not the quietest dishwasher, it will certainly not give off an unreasonable amount of noise. The hotter washes are generally louder and naturally last longer, but all are relatively quiet. 4/5
Value for Money
I was surprised at the low price, at just over £200 for a dishwasher that in theory ticks all the boxes. However as it is not the case it cannot represent great value for money. Whilst, when on the hottest setting, it does its job perfectly this brings up the already mentioned problem of scolding hot plates and cups. 3/5
User’s Manual
The manual is very detailed and thorough. A troubleshooting guide answers most problems and it fully explains the intricacies of each wash cycle. Also explaining which type of detergents are compatible (most with the exception of cheap powder which contains sand) and how to best stack your plates so everything in the dishwasher is washed perfectly. It is not too lengthy or too short, it is concise and very useful. 5/5
Cleaning and Maintenance
The manual instructs you that if used regularly, to put the dishwasher on an intense wash whilst empty every month. The filter should also be emptied on a regular basis, this is easy to get to and easy to wash under the tap to get rid of any solid residue trapped in the filter. Cleaning and maintenance of this dishwasher is very quick and simple. 5/5
Safety
This dishwasher, like almost all others, has a safety catch on whilst on a wash. Even the most intense wash will not dislodge or move plates/knives that might present a possible accident. However the already mentioned intense wash which is usually needed leaves everything inside at a very hot temperature even up to an hour after finishing. This presents a very possible risk on injury as cups for example are too hot to handle and could lead to a possible accident by dropped it or even burning of the hand. Also, any children who are around may get a nasty surprise, whilst still on a cycle but when very hot air is blown tough to dry the dishes, during this time the dishwasher door can be opened, and very hot steam is released, possibly harming you or any possible children. 2/5
Overall
Being my first experience of owning a dishwasher this is rather disappointing. Having to use the intense wash as the economical washes do not wash pots to a high quality. This leaves the objects inside to be very hot, almost untouchable when finished even if left for an hour after the cycle has finished. As mentioned, when very hot steam is being used to dry the pots the door can still be opened, leading to hot steam pouring out of the front. Aside from these issues the dishwasher is mostly good, being durable and very easy to use and clean. However the safety concerns that this dishwasher brings means that I cannot recommend this to anyone. 2/5
