Beko DWD 5411 Dishwasher.
Just before Christmas three large items in the kitchen broke down within a week one of them being our hotpoint dishwasher. As Christmas was approaching plus the fact that I was about to leave the country for a couple of weeks we had to rush out and buy an oven, Hob unit and a dishwasher otherwise Christmas would have been a pretty dismal affair. As things were a bit tight I chose the Beko DWD 5411 which was available for immediate delivery which was very handy indeed.
The Beko DWD 5411 dishwasher is a full size dishwasher able to take 12 place settings. It is rated at a grade A in terms of Efficiency and economy through the A-G grading ratings which particularly ticked the box for me due to the ever increasing energy bills.
What does it look like?
The machine is white with a front loading panel that pulls down quite smoothly. At the top of the door there are the controls. One round dial knob that you set to the wash cycle you want to use. An on off button. Another set of buttons to start the machines cycle and two indicator lights one for the salt reservoir and one for the rinse aid reservoir. The front of the machine is slightly contoured giving it a pleasing aesthetic look.
So what features does it have?
It has five washing programmes including a quick wash setting.
Four different water temperatures including one at 70 degrees and the economy wash at 60 degrees.
It uses 15 litres of water per cycle.
A cutlery tray with handle.
A lower and upper adjustable load trays.
It has salt and rinse aid indicator lights which are very useful especially as I used to forget to refill both on the old machine. When one is lit of the indicator lights are lit the washing cycle will not work.
So how does it perform?
The dishwasher can be loaded for a full 12 place setting or used on an economy wash for a quick fast wash although on the fast wash not all the contents are 100% dry when the cycle is finished. One of the best features is that it is practically silent and although I cannot hear it if I put my ear to the dishwasher I can feel the vibration and water filling. Although there are indicator lights on it as it is so silent I like to know it is actually working. Sometimes pressing the start button has not always started the machine as you need to hold it for 3 seconds whereas with our old machine you just pressed the button and off it whirled and was considerably noisier!
We have found that the contents are well washed and nicely dried once the cycle has finished with no streaking on the glasses or plates.
As we currently have a five people in our household we find that we only have to put the machine on once a day in normal use. Where it comes into its own is when you are entertaining it certainly cuts the work load clearing up after a dinner party or other such occasion. We can do two loads before going to bed then the house is back to normal without all the palaver of having to wash mounds of dishes, plates, cutlery and glassware.
What I don’t like?
The lower tray is on wheels and you need to get it just in the right position to stop it rolling back in as you are trying to load the tray. Although this is only a minor irritation you soon get the hang of where to site the tray to prevent this but if someone else is giving a hand loading they tend to knock it and off it flies back into the machine. The other thing that has annoyed me with this machine is that sometimes the wheels come off but are easily replaced.
What I do like!
It is fast.
Economical
Silent.
The load trays can be configured to hold awkward items such as large bowls or pots by pressing down the plate prongs. This gives a flatter more open surface on which to load the machine.
The price.
I paid £220 pounds for this machine and although I was a bit dubious of the brand I thought well needs must and we will see how it performs bearing in mind it comes with a one year guarantee and if it is not fit for purpose like leaving the items dirty or does not perform satisfactorily I would have it exchanged for something of another brand after Christmas.
However I am very pleased to say that so far we are very satisfied with this machine and optimistically hope that it will serve us ten years like the old machine did. If it does then this certainly is a bargain dishwasher.
Would I recommend it?
Yes I would I am quite impressed at its ability to clean the dishes economically and quickly and would highly recommend this product. Do not be put off by the price I am very satisfied with its overall performance and the way it looks and finally by its very reasonable price. The wheels falling off are a minor inconvenience apart from that I think we certainly got a bargain with this machine.
Apparently, we don't need a dishwasher...I'm it! :~/ :~) Smashing review me 'ansom xXx
