Advantages: Cheap. Cheerful. Matches my Bosch stuff. Disadvantages: Flimsy crisper drawer. Too easy to alter the thermostat

Having just paid for a new car entirely on credit cards, de ol’ plastic’s been taking a bit of a bashing lately. “What’s this got to do with fridges?” I hear you cry.
Well, our old faithful Hotpoint Iced Diamond larder fridge chose the precise day that the balance on the car was due, to become our old UNfaithful Hotpoint Iced Diamond, that’s why!
Therefore, exit BNibbles in search of a (preferably) cheap replacement.
Last year, our kitchen was completely remodelled (by me I might add), and although most appliances had been renewed at that juncture, the fridge was the last piece of “legacy hardware” still standing. It wasn’t a fitted fridge, just one that stood in the standard sized under-worktop hole.

It was delivered last Sunday at 8.30 a.m. – yes you did read that right! WHAT’S GOOD
It is agreeably quiet
It fits perfectly where the old one stood (this is not the one in the Ciao picture - mine's a LS 420 model)
It is a better match for the rest of our kitchen appliances.
The inside of the door is fitted with those springy fingers to keep varying sizes of bottles from clanging around.
The door hinges are reversible, and comes with the plastic bits needed to do this.
It is rated B on a scale of A-G for energy efficiency. This means that it is projected to use 206 kw/hours (units) of “lekky” per annum.
It’s cheap!
WHAT’S NOT SO GOOD?
Not so much a definite problem now, but the salad crisper drawer and the glass plate above it lay so flush with each other, that anything dragged across the glass brushes against the plastic lip of the drawer. As this ages, and gets more brittle and fatigued, I can foresee chunks of the crisper tray chipping off. I may line the runners for the glass with draught excluder to raise it slightly.
Having read the two other opinions on this fridge, I noticed that one writer has had problems with the thermostat knob being too easy to alter inadvertently. I ran down to the kitchen, on reading this, and yes, it’s true, the knob feels more akin to the volume control on a Hi-Fi. It would be very easy to squeeze some food in soft packaging in under the wheel, altering the setting without noticing. I’ll have to watch that!
Amazing isn’t it? - It's obviously designed by a man. The one time a stiff knob would be really useful in the kitchen and they put a floppy one in!
My only other quibbles were really with Curry’s – would I like an extended warranty? Do me a favour, when the whole shebang only costs £139 pounds? Why bother? Also, despite saying they would ring ahead to make an appointment for delivery, they arrived unheralded with me in semi-dressed state.
THEN through the week, I’ve had a string of phone calls on my answering machine in varying degrees of desperation, asking when I’d like my fridge delivered! So, if a second one turns up, I’ll let you know! I could let you have it for, say, £120 cash.
Obviously, at this stage, a long-term reliability report is out of the question, although at the time of revising this op, it was still working. That's a good sign these days!
Advantages: Actuall makes the food cold unlike the previous frdige Disadvantages: Is a little flimsy in places
...top anyway). Made by Beko – I’ve never heard of them either – it’s a tall stand up fridge, which lacks the freezer. That’s not a problem though. It’s a rather nice pure white colour and it doesn’t take up all that much room thanks to it’s tall but thin stature.
But who cares what a fridge looks like? I’m more interested about what’s in it – the equipment that is, not the food. Honest! ... ...a quiet room with the Beko – like I am now – and you’ll be pleased that it is a silent fridge. Either that or it’s just broken down. Hang on… No it’s still working. Apart from the little hum it’s very serene and relaxed.
I am no expert of fridge’s. To me they just keep food cold and I can’t tell whether the price we paid for it is good or not. However, apparently £200 is very good for a fridge ...

...of which is the new BEKO range. I purchased the BEKO larder fridge. I was not only very impressed with the price, but it compared much better in design than some of the top name brands. I also bought the matching freezer and they really look stunningly smart in my new kitchen. The manufacturer has really taken time to study the curved styled image. The inside had a larger capacity than some of the other top brands. The larder fridge is easy to keep ...

Advantages: look ok from the outside Disadvantages: badly designed
I bought a Beko Larder fridge in May of this year because it was the cheapest one on offer. This fridge is no good at all.The thermostat is positioned next to the shelf so if you nudge it with anything on the shelf it turns up and freezes all your food.I have had to throw quite a lot of my food away due to frost bite and now have had to tape the thermostat into positon.
Beko customer services were rude and very unhelpful and wouldnt even listen to ...

Advantages: economic, well laid out shelves, easy to clean Disadvantages: unpacking the appliance from its transit box.
I like my counter top space so I wanted a fridge to go under the counter. I choose the Beko because it has a energy efficency rating of A. Which means a consumption of 151 Kwh/yr. As an added bonus when turned on it is so quiet. Inside the shelves all are easily removable for cleaning. The shelves also included a wine rack and I have found there is ample space for all our small families needs. The layout is well thought out and clearly explained in the manual. For once the manual is very clear in plain easy to understand language. The auto defrost is efficent and in case of food bits blocking outlet we have a small plunger supplied to clear the hole. If wished the door can be fitted to open either way. On the door are a good amount of shelf space. Large enough for large bottles and our milk needs. The day to day running and cleaning is ...
