    I figured it was time for a more up to date review of the Giants. When they started many people said that ice hockey wasn't something that would be popular in Northern Ireland, it'd never catch on, it was just a fad, well, the Giants have just ended their fifth season and are going as strong as ever. A lot has happened since that first night in December 2000 when the Giants first took to the ice in the Odyssey arena, they won the Superleague in their second season, the Playoffs the following year, then just about made it in to season 4 after financial trouble, but, at present things are ... more

    The Odyssey Arena in Belfast is the home of the current champions the Belfast Giants. For those pucker fans from "the mainland" this is a great away trip and easy to get to. Although the home of the "Giants" it was recently the venue for the world amateur boxing championships. The location of the arena is close to the docks so arrival from Scotland is very handy and can take as little as an hour and a half by the Seacat. I recently met some fans of the Ayr Scottish Eagles in McHugh's. We had a chat, a laugh and a drink. They seemed to enjoy their regular trips to Belfast for games. Those of ... more
