    Belinda Jo Kerzeski Carlisle was born in California on 17 August 1958. She was the eldest of seven children, and the family did not have much money to spend on them. Her father, Walt, left her mother, Joanne, and the children. Her mother then married her stepfather Duke. The rebellious Belinda did not get on well with the strict Duke. She was an overweight tomboy, and while at school was nicknamed “Berlimpa”. At High School she changed her image and became a member of the cheerleading squad. She graduated high school in 1976.
