I purchased my Belinea monitor in September 2003 whilst upgrading my whole computer system. Why did I choose the Belinea? Well I have to be honest, I understand nothing about computers or their components, I just need to it work and work well. At the time I was considering making this purchase I was in employment and in the lucky position of being able to order goods I felt suitable for our department. When upgrading our monitors I took the advice of our local dealer (www.chisolm.com) and bought 10 new Belinea monitors, over a period of time, for the office.
First impression as I unpacked the monitors was how small they were, how light weight, and how smart. The screen is surrounded by the narrowest casing which means that when you look at your screen, that is what you see, not a huge box with a little screen on it, this I found immediately pleasing to the eye. The menu controls are at the front and are so user friendly even I could use them, which is saying something.
Installation of the screen was simple and once the correct resolution was selected from the computer I found I had a screen, which was restful on the eye, there was no flicker which is the major cause of headache and eyestrain. The screen is clear, crisp and the colours (16.7 million) fantastic. The unit is so compact you can slide it to the back of your desk, which gives you more room to work, and if necessary you can increase your font size so you don’t strain your eyes. One other major source of eyestrain is screen glare, but not with the Belinea, the glare is minimal, only found if you direct your light straight at it and there are no reflections on screen. So sorry boys, you won’t be able to watch the girls sitting behind you any more.
So there you have it, when I came to purchase a monitor for my home computer Belinea was my first choice. My computer is stored in a cupboard (courtesy of MFI), in order that I can shut my work away at the end of the day. The old style monitor I had owned before took up the whole shelf, was too close to me when working and left no room for paperwork or books I needed around me whilst I work. The Belinea sits nicely at the back of the cupboard and I have all my work books propped up around it, but best of all, I have working space in front of it to put my paperwork whilst I am working. No more juggling with papers and fingers while I type. I find the screen extremely restful and regularly work on it 10 or 15 hours a day with no problem.
Stereo speakers are integrated into the monitor and these work perfectly well, though the sound quality cannot be compared to a proper speaker system, it is adequate for general computing and the odd game I play.
Service: In August of this year I was, as you can imagine, dismayed to turn my computer on one morning to find my screen full of pretty coloured lines and little else. After ringing the call centre and giving information on the problem they promptly arranged for an engineer to call and repair my monitor. Within two days I had a knock at the door and found not a service engineer but the delivery of a brand new monitor to replace the faulty one. No messing about taking it back to the shop, or parcelling it up, Belinea did all the leg work and that I feel says a lot about a company. The monitor has a 3 year guarantee on it and from what I have seen the company uphold this well.
Overall an impressive little monitor which gives you the size you want (17”) without compromising desk space or eyesight.

Advantages: Very attractive appearance, slimline, smart and good quality Disadvantages: Some people prefer chunky monitors, and if this is you, then this isn't the right choice
