I bought this router from PC World for Ł29.99 about 3 months ago. (I also bought a new computer from PC World - so the manager used her discretion and reduced it from Ł44.99)
When I first plugged it up to the computer, I found that I could use my laptop wirelessly. It was top of the range and has a 2.4Ghz processing speed. I was enjoying wireless broadband connection, until, suddenly, the internet on both the host computer and my laptop went dead.
Well, I was baffled! I tried to unintall it, reinstall it, change the internet connection, and try and re-configure it. I couldn't and decided to phone thier helpline. I cannot complain about the customer service. They knew exactly what to do to solve the situation, however this was not a long term solution, as I found out later!
A strange program was loaded, and I could modify the details. It worked - I couldn't believe my eyes!!! About three days later the problem persisted yet again.
For the connection of four computers to the same router, this is perfect, as it has the four slots for ethernet cables in the back. Now, I just don't bother with it. It is sat on the top of my computer, unplugged - I found it easier just to plug the broadband back into my main PC, and use that for the internet. AAAAArgh!!!!
Belkin Wireless G, or 802.11g, refers to the networking standard that transfers data at up to 54 Mbps using the 2.4 GHz band. It is ideal for homes and offices that require a flexible solution to download music from the Internet or share photos and other files without wired connections between computers. Belkin Wireless G is ideal for Web-surfing and email. The Wireless G Gaming Adapter enables you to connect Ethernet-compatible computers and equipment such as gaming devices to your wireless network. With a wireless router as the central connection point, you can now share - via a DSL Modem - broadband access to the Internet, i.e. for online gaming.
