The 54g ADSL/Cable Modem Router/Access Point is a great piece of kit. It encompasses a 4-port router (with another port for the WAN connection) 802.11b and Belkins 54g (54 Kilobits per sec) protocols.
The device itself will self-configure if your main PC is already directly connected to a cable modem / ADSL link, however (and this is quite a biggy if you are a novice), it is a complete nightmare if you are already using a router or lan/wan configuration of any sort. I am a computer programmer / technical director, and it took me over an hour to sort this out using crossover cables and years of network knowledge.
Once configured, the router works beautifully, however, an annoying marketing add for Belkin pop's up randomly when you start to surf (and will not go away even if you click the 'I am not interested' button)
That aside, it is a very stable, well designed piece of kit, and the features are as follows;
Firewall MAC Address Spoofing DHCP Server NAT WEP Encryption to 64 and 128 bits Access Point Only Configuration Application Gateway Support Virtual Servers Client IP Filters MAC Address access control DMZ (for none NAT compatible devices) WAN Ping blocking Parental Control
On top of all this, the device supports Firmware upgrade via the internet.
Once configured, this is a top-notch product that could do with a few minor improvements.
