Doesn't it get annoying when you don't have enough space to plug in more PS/2 devices to your PC? PS/2 is becoming obsolete now and sometimes you will get computers without ports for them, including one of my laptops. Another problem with PS/2 ports are that they are always hard to get to; not only will you never find one on a frontal port section (on the front of a PC case) but at the back they are always buried under wires! Also, people with less knowledge about computers would be unlikely to know what a PS/2 port looks like, but will probably know what a USB port looks like!
Anyway, I was getting annoyed at my latest laptop for not having any PS/2 ports, since I was planning to use it for gaming and my favourite keyboard and mouse for gaming are both USB. So I went back to the shop I bought it from and asked a helpful member of staff at the counter to save me from this hell. Then he pulled this from a shelf behind him and I felt much better.
It was only £10 which is a decent price for a small but useful adapter like this, especially considering it saved me buying a new keyboard and mouse (I'm picky about what I use for different activities) which could have cost up to £150.
It conforms to the Plug And Play standard, which basically means you don't need to install or configure anything to work it, just plug it in to a USB port and plug some PS/2 devices into it and tada, IT WORKS! Not only is it plug and play, but you can unplug and plug in devices at any time without restarting your computer - which is unusual for something to do with PS/2 and quite a nice feature.
It hasn't failed on me yet, nor have any wires snapped or ripped open at all, no pins in the plugs have been bent or damaged and it hasn't caused any difficulties or inconsistencies with my keyboard and mouse input. It's just like having them plugged into PS/2 ports, but without needing PS/2 ports.
