Touch screen devices such as smartphones & PDAs are becoming more & more common these days. Some are finger friendly & most have a separate stylus for carrying out tasks.
The screen is a very sensitive component of these devices & expensive to replace. When you tap the screen or drag the stylus across the screen you increase the chances of damaging it.
I remember when I bought my first PDA, within days a tiny particle ... ...after I had dragged the stylus across the screen it left a small but noticeable scratch.
I had no option but to invest in screen protectors, if that is the damage after a few days what would it be like after a few years?

The screen is a very sensitive component of these devices & expensive to replace. When you tap the screen or drag the stylus across the screen you increase the chances of damaging it.
I remember when I bought my first PDA, within days a tiny particle of grit landed on the screen without me knowing & after I had dragged the stylus across the screen it left a small but noticeable scratch. I had no option but to invest in screen protectors, if that is the damage after a few days what would it be like after a few years?
I have used these protectors ever since on various devices, the outlay is very little (about £5.00) but they keep your device it tip top condition. They are usually sold in the size required for your device, I would avoid any that need to be cut to size.
INSTALLATION They are not the easiest things to fit first time; you peel off the screen protector from its backing & need to apply it to your screen. The screen has to be cleaned first with a soft cloth before fitting these protectors. The first problem is getting it to sit on the screen squarely, if it is inserted squint, trying to peel it off & refit the protector leaves you with finger prints & air bubbles all over it, followed by some colourful profanities! You need to try & place the top of the protector against the top edge of the screen exactly in position leaving the rest of the protector free. Then take a credit card & slowly but effectively press down gently & slide it down the screen taken the free section of the protector with it. By doing this you eliminate any air bubbles.
If you have any air bubbles on the screen, you then need to use the credit card to squeeze out any bubbles usually by dragging them to the nearest edge of the screen. Just trying to squeeze a bubble won't do any good & you end up being left with them. Try dragging a stylus across a screen with air bubbles won't give you accurate movements. Once fitted they are usually good for a few months, the constant tapping & dragging leaves them looking dull & starts to effect your display, then its time to peel off & replace with a new one. They are easily removed & don't leave any residue. Some of these protectors are better than others; it's the old story 'you get what you pay for'. I would highly recommend these protectors if you want to protect one of the most expensive component of your device.

Review of Belkin ClearScreen Overlay Screen protector Clear
Advantages: Use of protection can save you money Disadvantages: Can be difficult to apply correctly the first time
With so many touch screen devices out there protecting the screen is really important. You spend hundreds of pounds on the latest gizmo, whether it's a pda or smartphone and with these gadgets getting smaller and smaller you just slip them into your pocket, thats where the problems can begin. It only takes a pen or a few loose coins in the same pocket and your nice new gadget could look like it's been in the wars(remember if you take good care of your ... ...the future so plan ahead and protect your little baby)
The choices-
Now with screen protectors you have three choices 1-Not to bother with them, which as stated above could cost you dearly(if you scratch the screen you have to look at it everytime you use it now how is that for reminding you)
2-You could be one of those fancy reusable screen protectors which you can remove and wash and then re-use over and over again. Now i tried that option but ...
