I have had this product for just over a year now. I bought it for around £50 from Staples to share a broadband internet connection amongst my housemates. I did worry that it might be difficult to set up the network initially, having never done it before.
After reading all the instructions a few times, more because of nerves than because they were difficult to understand, I began making my first network. I hooked up the NTL modem to my laptop, installed all that software and took the wires out. To set up the wireless router was my next task. I plugged the NTL modem cable to the router, stuck the plug in the wall and turned it on. My laptop chimed at me - a new wireless network had been found and was now connected. I checked to see if the internet worked, it did, I was amazed.
I spent about ten minutes booting up my housemates machines and they all found the network straight away. I then went to the settings page, which is like an internal webpage, made a user name and set up a password for the network. Sure enough I had to pop the password into the other computers, but that isn't hard.
The router comes with software for filtering web content, presumably for offices and parents. I did try it for 5 minutes to annoy my housemates and it does work, though it is fairly easy to bypass if you really try and prolonged use requires a subscription to Belkin.
Over the past year I have been able to share files and printers across the network, with a little fiddling.
One nice feature is having 4 standard LAN connections on the router, which you can use if someone doesn't have a wireless card. When friends brought laptops around for work, we were able to easily hook them into the network in seconds.
The unit is not the most attractive lump of plastic in the world, and it doesn't replace your modem, but you can easily tuck them both away out of sight.
A good entry level model

Advantages: Lifetime warranty, free technical support (inc. freephone telephone number), easy to set up Disadvantages: Foreign call centre - not necessarily a disadvantage unless the person you speak to doesn't really understand you and you don't understand them!
