I am using Belkin High Speed Mode Wireless Router for almost 1 year now and until now, I don't have any problem with my internet connection. I buy this product from Dixon Store around £54.99 with 1 year warranty. And it is not too big and easy to install. On the next chapter, I would like to give some information on the advantages of using wireless connection.

Belkin High Speed Mode Wireless Router is my today's review. Nowadays, more and more people are choosing to buy the PC or laptop that has wireless features. For those who don't know what wireless is, wireless technology features in latest laptop or PC are the new technology that enables us to transfer the data without have to use any networking cables.
I am using Belkin High Speed Mode Wireless Router for almost 1 year now and until now, I don't have any problem with my internet connection. I buy this product from Dixon Store around £54.99 with 1 year warranty. And it is not too big and easy to install. On the next chapter, I would like to give some information on the advantages of using wireless connection.

o If you are using your laptop to surf the internet, you can use it anywhere in your house, even in your garden.

o When you have a wireless connection in your house, you will not have any problem when you are using other electronic device such as PDA and Internet Mobile phone. You don't have to buy separate cable head or converter just to connect those devices to the internet.

After knowing all the new features that are available with this product, I think I should buy it because as for me, the price is not equal with the features given. More good thing and I pay less for it.

• Multi Operating System
o Belkin High Speed Mode Wireless Router can be use on both PC and Mac user. The router also supports most of the operating system such as all Microsoft Window's version, Linux, Mac Operating System, and also the operating system for Apples.

• LED Light at the router
o This light guides you to know what is really happening with the router whether the router is ok or not.

• Web Based Advance User Interface
o For advance user, you can setup your router by only using the web browser. You don't have to install any additional software in order to do the setup. By the way, there is no install when performing the setup.

• NAT IP Address Sharing
o This router have what they called as Network Address Translation (I don't know what the hell is that :-P) that is to share the single IP address assign to you by your ISP (Internet Service Provider).

• SPI Firewall
o This form of firewall protects your internet connection and your computer from any form of virus, hackers, and others.

• Integrated 10/100 4 port switch
o Although it is wireless router, it still provide with 4 extra port switch that is useful to connect to your printer, transfer data from camera, mp3 player etc.

• Plug & Play Features
o This router have a new technology called the UPnP (Universal Plug & Play) features that offer a good operation of voice messaging, video messaging, games and other application that UPnP compliant.

• Build In Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP)
o This will make the network installation process gets really easy. The DHCP server will assign IP addresses to each computer automatically so you don't have to do a very complicated network setup.

• Easy Installation Wizard
o This wizard will determine your network setting and set up your router for connection to your Internet Service Provider.

• Integrated 802.11g Wireless Access Point
o It is a new technology that can achieve data rate up to 54Mbps.

• 125 High Speed Modes.
o According to the manufacture of this product, High Speed Mode (HSM), a 54g performance enhancement, provides the fastest wireless connectivity for 802.11g capable network in real world environment. It is design for home network that require additional bandwidth for applications such as sharing digital picture.

• Integrated Parental Control
o This is the feature where you can block any unwanted website from being seen by your children. Its parental control can also do a report for you on every website that had been visited from your network. But it is an optional selection. This product still respect your privacy :-P

• MAC Address Filtering
o This is your 'security key' so that other wireless users that are not from your network can't use your network and use your internet connection. The network is locked except to all the user that know the password.

The reason why I bought this product is because I don't want to use my previous wireless router that is full with problems. That problem disappeared when I change my router to Belkin Router. And I think when I change to my new router, I can feel that my connection became faster than before.

• Design

• Connection Speed
o When I'm using this product, I had detected that my internet connection is faster than before. And I had never had a problem where my internet connection suddenly disconnected.

• Manual Book
o When I started to install the router to my computer, I try to have a look at the manual and it is very easy to understand and not too many complicated words and my full installation process finish around 20 minute.
o There are also picture for anyone that can't understand English :-P

• High Quality
o I usually will switch on my router 24 hours everyday and the router still performs in excellent condition.
o I do expect the router will be over heated when I switch it on 24 hours but I was wrong, everything look normal.

• Wireless Security
o The router firewall in this router is really helping me to secure my internet connection from other people that can use my internet connection for free.

• Easy Installation
o The installation is very easy, thanks to the Plug and Play compatibility.

• Price
o I think the price of this router is equal with the quality and performance given to my internet connection and I feel worth buying this product.

• Transferring Data
o Using the Data Transfer wizard in my Window XP professional, I can transfer all the data from my PC to my new laptop using the wireless feature that available with the router. The transferring process is so easy and fast.

Disadvantages

• Too Light
o That is one of the problems because if the router is too light in weight, it can easily drop if I accidentally pull the power cable.

• No Lightning Protection
o I think this product don't have any lightning protection, although storm and thunder are rare in England, but I think the manufacture should install this feature.

Extra Notes
+++++++++

In order to use the wireless connection, your computer should have a wireless device that can connect the data from your computer to your router. Latest computer are available with build in wireless reception. So if you don't have wireless reception device in your computer, I would suggest you to buy a PCI network card for your PC or Wireless network card for laptops.
But there are also new USB wireless receptions that come in Thumb drive forms available in market. The price for all these things are much lower than the router (of course! ha-ha)

Overall, I am really satisfied with this product. Honestly, I haven't explore all the feature that exist in this product but for the time being, I think this product had really help me a lot with my work, internet. And remember, without this router, I will not be able to post my review to this great Ciao website… I would suggest you to use the product.
