...Bring the Internet into the comfort of your own home.

After a few years of daily accessing the Internet from home, you begin to realise how much that corner of a dark room where the telephone-line enters your home really isn't the best place to sit doing it...
Pictures in the glossies of people sitting on their deck in the garden, or relaxing by the river, laptop open with unfettered access to their files back in the office help break the myth that you need to be where the Internet is to use it. Why not bring it to you, be where you want to be and make it follow you?

Advantages: Looks cool... Disadvantages: Incompatible with Vista / Belkin N1 Router with WPA security!!!
...in the security key - 'Connecting is taking longer than usual'. No IP address is assigned....
And I am trying to connect this to a BELKINN1 ROUTER!!
Now after checking online I discover there is no certified release software as yet for Vista, only a pre-release beta that you 'install and use at your own risk' - WHY? How long has Vista been out now? Why release a product that isn't tested properly?
Anyway, to cut a long annoying story short I discovered that it doesn't like WPA security, so am using WEP to connect successfully, and have just discovered the well documented problem with audio playback skipping BADLY in Vista whilst the N1 adaptor is being used. Speed-wise everything seemed okay, although of course the manufacturers claims about absolute speed and range on the packaging and marketing are offset by their very own disclaimers...

Advantages: Size, Price, Range Disadvantages: Initial Connectivity problems
...This is a very, very good piece of kit IF you can get it to work!
It has an in-built 'auto-connect' facility which seldom works and with the 3 networks I have had to install them on, it needed to be hard wired to a PC and connected that way (rather than connecting to the network as Belkin advise). For the price, you cant really grumble, especially if the alternative is installing messy CAT5 cable, or if that is not even an option.
It has managed to extend my wireless range (from a Belkin G+ Router) by about 70 meters, with 3 large buildings in . If you can navigate your way around SSID and Security setting issues, it is a useful, and stable bit of hardware!...

What it does:- connects your ADSL connection to an internal network using either cables or wireless. The MIMO and N1 designations show that its at the bleeding edge of wireless standards so its one of the first wireless routers that is (theoretically)... more
