...my original purchase of the Belkin home network starter kit from PC World with disastrous results (please see my separate opinion for PC World)
The kit comprises of 2 10/100 Ethernet cards, 25ft of cable and all the software needed to make installation easy and painless. This includes Belkin 'Netshare' and Belkin 'Netsetup'. During installation I found it necessary to contact the company's product support help line due to the fact ... ...hurt!!!
The Belkin Home Networking starter kit costs £39.99 and is widely available in both PC stores and online.
It is compatible with any version of Microsoft Windows (I have Win ME downstairs and Win98 upstairs).
The product I purchased was the PCI version but is also available for USB connection.
My daughter can now share my Internet access, which therefore saves me additional costs for another connection, ... more

During installation I found it necessary to contact the company's product support help line due to the fact that I am sometimes a Pratt and occasionally find it difficult to read the simplest of instructions!! The technical support line was, for a change, a national telephone number and the call lasted only about 2 minutes. The person at the other end of the line was very human and promptly forwarded an email to me with even simpler instructions! (Ahh, the sweet smell of success!)
From start to finish, (from installing the cards to browsing the network) total set-up time was 2 hours. This also included drilling a hole in the floorboards and laying the cable. No one warned me though that carpet gripper rods are very sharp and if one places ones wrist on them, they hurt!!!

My daughter can now share my Internet access, which therefore saves me additional costs for another connection, and I have the added bonus of being able to use some of her hard drive!! Thanks for reading and I do hope that you have found this opinion of some use.
