...Being a novice in networking i set out to find somthing cheap and simple that would a job and not complain. All it needed to do was sit there and not give me any problems.
When looking at this switch, it seemed an unusual shape as most networkswitches/hubs were just boxes. It arrived and was easy to use (thanks to win. xp), the sotware that came with it did nothing at all though. It now sits on the floor, doing a job, not giving me any problems at all.
Im not an expert, but the price seemed reasonable for what i was getting.
I didnt have a problem with the fact that i couldn't connect the modem to the switch, as i just connect through one of the computers.
It is a good shape that has the function of making easy to interconnect other belkin products....

Over priced Review ofBelkin5-PortNetworkSwitch (10/100Mbps)by

Advantages: Plug and Play Disadvantages: Not worth the money
...When setting up a network in my house I wanted to share everything over a LAN and also split the broadband between the network. The initial problem I had was that the broadband connection to the hub has to be an Ethernet cable. This is not too much of a problem if you are using ntl broadband. If you are using bt broadband the modem comes with only a USB connection which you cannot change. Therefore the broadband could not be easily shared using the hub like I thought. The hub itself although quite stylish was large and oddly shaped and hard to accommodate in an already cluttered environment. It was however shape do that it could be attached to other belkin products in a quite nice and interesting way. Unfortunately if you don’t own any other belkinnetworking appliances the shape is pointless.
When the cabling was sorted out...

...to the router wirelessly, you need to have some form of wireless capability on your other device (desktop PC, laptop, PDA, games console, etc) I would recommend you install any necessary components on these devices first.
When you have a device capable of receiving the wireless signal, you will need to configure the router. This is done via an ethernet link into one of the four wired networkports on the router. As the router and wireless card in your other device have no information about each other, this is a very important stage so make sure you have an ethernet (CAT 4) cable available otherwise you will not be able to proceed. Once you have made this connection, the router will self-configure with your Internet Provider. At this point, you could continue to use the internet with the wired access but, seeing as you have just bought...
