Advantages: Allows 4 PCs to share one Keyboard, Mouse and Monitor Disadvantages: Switching regularly can be a pain. PS2 Only
...In my job I use a lot of PCs. I have 3 main PC's, and a further 7 tied to my desk. I use at least 3 different operating systems, on 4 different models of PC, from 2 different manufacturers. I also like having a large monitor, preferably 19" or 21" minimum. Now how do you get three PC's, three 21" Monitors, three keyboards and three mice onto a desk no bigger than a kitchen breakfast bar?
The answer is simple: You don't.
What you do is invest in something like this Belkin Omniview E-Series 4-port KVM Switch, which provides the ability to use a single monitor, keyboard and mouse on up to 4 PCs.
The BelkinOmniView I have been provided with did not come with connection cables, so make sure that if you are getting one of these, you cost in the price of cables to each of the PCs on your desk. Once I had got the necessary cables, I...

Advantages: Very versatile, handy, and easy to use Disadvantages: A bit more expensive than some other "cheaper" hubs
...The Belkin USB BusStation is an extremely easy way to expand your USB ports / serial / com / ps2 / Ethernet ports. The basic package comes as a 4 bay stackable system, with one base 4 port USB hub, and 3 other 1 port USB hubs. All are removable and can be exhanged for other Belkin hub products. This means total diversity. You could, for example, have 4 x 4 port USB hubs (a 16 port USB hub in total).
The BusStation has it's own power supply, providing a true 500 mA per port current, with an overload protection system on each port.
Currently, Belkin are giving a £5 rebate back if you send off the barcode on the bottom (or a £10 rebate if you send off the barcodes from a BusStation and one other Belkin hub product).

Advantages: compact, good front-panel display, wall-mountable Disadvantages: temperamental web interface, lots of virtual knobs, bells and whistles
...casing that has wall-mount holes, and claims to push super-fast wireless networking to a radius of 425m from the unit. And it comes with a Manufacturers Lifetime Warranty (sic).
Here's how I managed to get it going to accommodate my need to work from a room at the very opposite end of the house from where the ADSL connection was installed...
What you get for your money
-----------------------------------------
The silver-topped Belkin box looks attractive, with HIGH performance being the most obvious feature on the front. One side-panel gives you three easy steps to get you started - 1. Connect; 2. Configure; 3. Set Up. The other side-panel shows the technical specs, and the back panel explains clearly what's in the box, what it does and the way the unit communicates to you in blue (or amber if something's amiss!) icons what's happening...
