I broke my wrist about 10 years ago when I was in year 6, and since then it gets quite painful when i overwork it or put too much pressure on it.
This includes using the computer and in particular my mouse, I think becuase you have to hold you hand in the same posistion and no blood can circulate, also your wrist needs more support.
Ideally your hand and arm should remain level, when I visited my sister I used her mouse pad with a hand rest. It was very comfortable so I decided to invest in one myself, this one only cost me about £4 from Amazon.
The pad is a nice dark blus colour, it looks just like a regular mouse pad apart from the gel cusion at the bottom that you rest your wrist on. I think it has definately helped me but unfortunatelty I have a 'mini souris' (little mouse), which is very cute but I think it means that my wrsit ...
Advantages: Offers good support to your wrist. Disadvantages: None really.
I was given the Belkingel mousepad as a gift from my sister,
I have mild arthritis in my hands and had been using the basic flat as a pancake mousepad for a long time and noticed that my wrist and hand where begining to ache after an hour or so at the computer,
I mentioned this to my sister who said she would get a gel mousepad for me as she uses this type at work and it gives a really good support to the wrist.
Since using the gel mousepad I've noticed a big difference,
I dont get any of the aches anymore and its much more comfortable and easier to use the mouse,
I've had mine for 7 months, have never had to clean it and it's as good as new.

As many of my readers will know I have one of the MS Natural Multimedia Keyboard's which are shaped differently to the normal straight keyboards. And to go with it I needed a specially shaped gelwristrest to fit next to it. I had a old wristrest but it was just straight and it wasn't supporting my wrists as it didn't fit close enough to this keyboard. But this Fellowes gelwristrest is just perfect for such a keyboard as it has been shaped to fit the curvy edge.

It only comes in one grey colour which looks a little dull to some other gelrests that are clear so you can see the bright blue gel inside.
It features a non-skid bottom which is great is the rest does not move about when you are typing away.
