...existing ADSL modem with a Belkin Wireless G Router/Modem which I connected via CAT5 cable to the network port on his PC - the router/modem sat comfortably on a shelf next to his desk.
I set up a Security Key for the network to ensure that no-one within range of the network would be able to access it without authorisation.

WURE Review ofBelkin Wireless G Universal Range Extender/Access Pointby
hughchapman
Advantages: cheap, reliable Disadvantages: confusing set up
This product is for extending the wireless range of an exisiting network. It simply repeats the previous signal to expand the range, and can be located anywhere to maximise this. It has a 54mbps speed, and wont broadcast your original speed, eg 108mbps.
I orderd the WURE (wireless universal range extender) from broadbandstuff.co.uk for £39. When the product arrived I was quite impressed with the appearance. The instructions were fairly comprehensive ... ...the WURE. I followed them but encountered a problem when it came to getting the product to work with my netgear routers WPA security. The instructions failed to mention how to do this. All you have to do is put your settings in the basic wireless settings, not in the repeater menu.
When this problem was overcome the set up was easy, I simply moved the WURE to an area of low signal and it did its job well. The connection occasionaly drops but in ...

The internet ... ...speed to a large extent. Once it has been set up you have no more work to do and it is very easy to use . It is quite cheap roughly about £30 to £40. If you have a laptop which you need to use around the home and yet connect to the internet this is the router for you. ...
