The mouse on our PC was getting old and slow, the mousemat had seen better days too. I was making mutterings and grumblings about getting a new mousemat and finding the time to clean the mouse ball.
===============================On Christmas morning, what did I find, wrapped in glittery paper but a Belkin Wireless Keyboard and Mouse! Wow I thought. What a novel idea. I had read about wireless products and thought they sounded perfect for me but never realised one would turn up at Christmas. ================================
A few hours later I got some free time at the computer while everyone else snoozed in front of the tv. and thought I would open the box and see what I had got.
================================The box has a picture on the front of the keyboard and mouse. Some writing that tells me what it does and how easy it is to set up.
Contents: Wireless Keyboard and Mouse PS/2 27Mhz Bandwidth 256 IDS to eliminate interference from other devices Digital Radio frequency Works with Windows 98,2000, ME and XP Patented auto-syncronisation technology.
================================ Well according to the get started instructions all I had to do is turn the computer off, put the batteries in, 2xAA in the keyboard and 2 more in the mouse, plug it in and turn the computer back on again. ================================
There is a little oval box with one wire which splits into two on the end and go into the keyboard and mouse ports. So, off went the computer, I unplugged the original keyboard and mouse and plugged the new ones in. Turned it back on again and it all installed itself and was ready to play with immediately (well almost). Quickly I was all set up and ready to go so wanted to test it out.
================================The first thing I noticed was how sensitive the new optical mouse is. My poor curser whizzed all over the screen and it took me ages to stop at the right place. I played a quick game and got lost missing things for a while until I got used to it. ================================
I threw out the mouse mat, apparently the optical mouse needs no mat although my son says it works better with an optical mouse mat. So far I haven't bought one of those, but may in time.
================================A bit about the keyboard. It is quieter when I type. I will explain, I learnt to type on an old manual typewriter many years ago when at school so am somewhat heavy handed. People who learn on computer keyboards have a much lighter touch. ================================
The keyboard is black and sleek, the keys feel superior to the one supplied with the computer a couple of years ago, and dusting it is very much easier because I can pick the whole thing up and blow in it upside down so that any dust or dog hairs that are in there immediately fall to the floor. The layout is slightly different to my old one but perfectly simple to use and easy to get used to.
================================It has taken almost a week to get used to the sensitivity of the mouse, and it took me a couple of days to get used to the new keyboard otherwise apart from having a couple less wires laying across my desk I haven't found much difference to the original ones. Oh and my son says I can sit at the dining table the other side of the room and type emails, not sure how he thinks I will be able to see that far to correct my mistakes but it is a nice idea. ================================
After 6 days the batteries in the mouse needed replacing, apparently they don't last that long and as the ones we put in it were a cheap lot he brought round at Christmas it wasn't a problem, I just put in two fully charged re chargable ones and will see how long they last.
================================Altogether, I was very pleased to get this as a present, I don't know the exact price but it was under £30 and can be bought in places like PC World. ================================

I have rated good for reliability and duraility because my son has had one of these for his PC for some months now and in his housefull of youngsters it takes a beating and works hard and they have had no problems with it.
I have also rated good for quality because it has a nice feel and ease of use and I think that is good quality for a product of this price range.
This isn't a very technical review, I leave that to the experts, this is just my opinion of something that makes my life easier and my desk tidier.
Thanks for reading. Sue ================================

...surf the net. The name Belkin came up again and again. The price range - not too expensive (probably due to a lack of exclusivity). Finally I settled for the twin set offered (F8E832ukBNDL) at PC World for just £19.99 I have seen the set elsewhere for twice as much.

Advantages: its wireless....good feel Disadvantages: no "back" button on the mouse
My previous experience with wireless, devices was somewhat dampened buy the purchase of a logitech wireless mouse. To be fair though, this expeirence was most probably in part due to the carelessness of its user ( me), as it didnt seem to work after it had been dropped a few times, this is because you sometimes are expecting the mouse to have a wire so let it drop when infact , it is as it says wireless... So since the orignal purchase i had stayed ... ...to be drawn back with the price level of this package, I thought the time had come to try it again.
At around thirty pounds, it is great value, compared to a year or so ago, you can get a keyboard and a mouse for the same cost as just the mouse alone. Set up was very easy, simplying plugging into the relevent mouse and keyboard ports on the pc, and XP did a wonderful job of recognising and installing the software i had placed in the CD drive.

Advantages: Smooth Keystrokes, Very cheap for wireless Disadvantages: Weird Key Layout
...going to notice about the Belkin Wireless Keyboard And Mouse is the price. It is cheap. Very cheap. It's also quite a nice design, with an all black finish that looks both sleek and sexy.
Setup couldn't be much easier, as the Autosync feature automtically detects the keyboard and the mouse so it won't be long before you're batting away at your new combo trying to find the problem with it. Surely it can't be that cheap, and actually work can it?
... ...In order to use the Belkin Wireless Keyboard and Mouse you need to be using a PC (not Mac compatible) and packing Windows 98 or newer.
Belking have given the keyboard keys a nice resistance so that typing is comfortable and quick, exactly what you want from a keyboard.
The mouse is accurate, something you need to be careful of when buying a wireless mouse as inaccuracy or lagging can seriously deflate a mouse's appeal. The mouse has 3 buttons and ...

Advantages: Inexpensive, Looks Great, Great Range Disadvantages: Poor mouse resolution/speed, VERY fragile, Poor software
The Belkin Wireless Desktop bundle is fantastic for the price - I couldn't believe my eyes when I seen it for only £36.95.
Installation went without a hitch; they even give you a USB->PS2 converter for the mouse allowing it to work with older machine (however no PS2->USB for the keyboard, so that rules out use on the latest legacy-free computers). The responsiveness of the keyboard was fantastic, no missing keystrokes whatsoever, even from across ... ...wasn't immediately noticeable just browsing around the desktop but was very jerky in games such as Counterstrike which rely on the reactiveness of the player.
This keyboard/mouse combo looks fantastic and fits in perfectly with those desktops trying to break away from the modern stylistic confines of "Computer Biege" or "Apple White", however under that very pretty exterior lies some very fragile internals. After only two days I accidentaly knocked ...

Advantages: Sleek-Stylish-Professional-no cables Disadvantages: Mouse batteries when overworked
I bought my BELKIN KEYBOARD and MOUSE on new years day from pc world, compared to alot of other keyboard/mouse combinations they were the cheapest. The really good thing apart from there being no need for cables, is that there is no rubber ball under the mouse, i know it may seem trivial but it really irritated me having to clean it every now and then. It's now optical, and needless to say a dream to use. It's alot more sensitive as well, opposed ... ...up with this inconvenience the Belkin combination is a winner. The keyboard feels very professional when the keys are struck, and is built like a tank, it looks very sexy in the black and silver combo. So if you want to stop the clutter on your real desk top and tidy it without the site of ugly cables, then the new price for this great combo has got to be a winner. ...

Advantages: Cheap & Easy to install Disadvantages: Small Keyboard Buffer
I bought this product about 3 months ago from Staples. It cost me around £20.00 when on offer. I though it was cheap, so I though I would try it.
I connected the receiver to my desktop PC, put the batteries into the keyboard and mouse, and connected them. Windows XP installed the hardware automatically, and I started using it.
The receiver is incredibly small, and looks quite good. The mouse and keyboard are in a uniform colour, so look good when used together.
The keyboard allows me to control the volume of the PC from the keyboard, which can be useful. Also it allows me to control My Documents, My Music, My Pictures, Email and the standby mode. It also allows me to control the video player when watching a film, which is very useful.
The 9 buttons (Home, End, Insert, Page Up, Page Down, Delete, Print Screen, Scroll Lock ...
Advantages: wireless Disadvantages: doesnt work properlly
i bought this off my local asian retailer and have had nothing but problems with it from day 1!!! the mouse goes dead all the time which requires you to take out and replace the batteries to reactivate, which is a pain especially as i play a lot of poker online. the keyboard is just as bad in that it constantly misses letters out when typing, meaning you have to manually go back over your work and correct these mistakes.
i tried replacing batteries almost daily to see if this is where the problems lay but still found the same problems. i may just have been unlucky and bought a faulty device but it is only 2 months old and my advice would be to avoid buying this in the first place. a total waste of both time and money! 1/10. ...
