Belkin phone adaptor

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: Not enough information on software or packaging.

...I recently bought a Belkin wireless adaptor when I went into a house share and needed to have the internet. I use the internet but I know little about the technical side of things. I paid £19.99 for the adaptor in PC world who only had Belkin at the time which I thought was not expensive. However installing it was a nightmare. The 3 easy steps on the box seemed so easy; Install the software, plug the adaptor into a USB PORT - start networking! If only it was that simple. Every time my computer searched for a network it crashed. I phoned the Belkin company who took me step by step through the technical part and still we could not get internet. Eventually the Belkin assistant told my for some reason my computer was not recognising the new network. Being increasingly frustrated I considered taking the adaptor back for a refund... Advantages: Small, quick to connect to devices like mobiles and pda's. Good value for money.
Disadvantages: You must read the instruction manual well to set it up properly.

...I purchased this product just after Christmas and so far, I have not had any problems with it. The first thing I must say, is that you MUST make sure that you read the instruction manual before doing anything else. From my experience, if your computer has windows xp and 'service pack 2' installed (usually automatically added when connected to the internet). Then you must install the software first and before plugging it in! Once you have set up the bluetooth adaptor onto your computer (this took me around quarter of an hour) it truly is a marvellous piece of kit. ...We have two of these at work which we use for Bluetooth development. Both adaptors are fully Bluetooth 2.0 compatible and support the following profiles: Object Push, File Transfer, Personal Area Network, Advanced Audio (Music Streaming), Audio Remote Control. Unlike the previous Belkin Bluetooth modules, the software supplied with these dongles works perfectly within Windows XP SP2! No hacking is required and with this dongle/software, you don\'t have to use Microsoft\'s Bluetooth stack.
