The basic package comes as a 4 bay stackable system, with one base 4 port USB hub, and 3 other 1 port USB hubs. All are removable and can be exhanged for other Belkin hub products. This means total diversity. You could, for example, have 4 x 4 port USB hubs (a 16 port USB hub in total). The BusStation has it's own power supply, providing a true 500 mA per port current, with an overload protection system on each port. ...Reliable and easy to use cable - a must for anyone making a home network or even a business network. Although Belkin have released a few inferior products in the past, this cable brings thenm right back up again. Category 5 cable such as this is the highest-quality UTP Cable. It is tested at 100MHz, allowing it to run high-speed protocols such as 100Mbps Ethernet and CDDI. Category 5 Cable also uses either 22 or 24 AWG unshielded twisted-pair wire and impedance of 100ohms. It connects with RJ45 connectors (avaiable cheaply) RJ-45 connectors look a bit like a standard phone connector but are twice as wide (with eight wires). ...cables as my internal network card was not compatible with the FastCAT5e network cable. This was easily resolved by reverting back to my old LAN set up, and accessing the HP website where I proceeded to download several drivers in order to update my network card. A driver acts like a translator between a device (e.g. a Printer) and the programs that use the device (e.g. printing software). Most drivers come with the operating system (e.g. Windows XP) but for other devices, such as the network cable, you may need to load new drivers in order to use the device. *Price and Availability* The Belkin FastCAT5e Network cable is readily available from most good PC Accessory outlets, however if you search through some of the well-known Internet outlets you will be able to find this product cheaper.
