Everybody knows of my admiration of Billie Piper - I shout it from the rooftops at any given moment. With this adoration comes my love for her ITV show, 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl'. While the TV series is fantastic, we can sometimes forget whilst watching that this is essentially the story of somebody's life. And that 'somebody' is Belle de Jour.

Belle worked as a call girl, and kept an online blog of her adventures, which were later released in her book which also goes by the name of 'Secret Diary of a Call Girl' - it makes sense really, considering she was a call girl and it was her diary!! The book was a hit, as was the TV show, which has been commissioned for a fourth season, and so the demand for 'Belle' products became greater. Since her first publication, she's written various other books, some of which are in the diary formation, and others could pass as 'help books', filled with tips and information. 'Belle de Jour's Guide to Men' fits nicely into the latter category.

I'd like to take the time to tell you first of all how I came about owning my copy of the book. It sits before me, it's gorgeous white cover staring at me, luring me in with its occasional flash of blue colour, the long legged figure on the front longing to tell her story. As you turn over the cover of my copy, you will find a little signature, an inscription if you will. This is but a little message from Belle to I. I was fortunate to take part in a 'Twinterview' with the woman herself (for those of you who might not know, a Twinterview is an interview on Twitter, set up by Waterstones for Belle and her followers/fans). A few weeks after, my little gift arrived and I delved straight into its pages to unravel Belle's words into my world.

The book, naturally, is a little guide for women, giving them lots of helpful hints and tips on how to catch and keep the man of their dreams. Not all of it is written in 'sections' though - some help books are often in tables and lists, which can become a little dull after a while. Thankfully, Belle keeps us entertained with her witty words and rather strong language, so that it doesn't feel like we're being educated all the time! The way she speaks about men is an extended metaphor, acting as if they're dogs, needing their exercise and food. This alone is amusing, but there's lots more humour weaved right through it. There's tips for dress and mannerisms, as well as a few little quizzes you can take to find out what kind of a woman you are. My answer was 'Jennifer Aniston', so I was very pleased about that! Even if you don't feel like you need help with men, this is still a very entertaining read indeed!

My book was of course free, as it was a win, but I'd happily pay the Recommended Retail Price of £6.99. I've bought lots of Belle's other books, and have bought one since which I've yet to read, and always find them highly entertaining and a thrill to read. This one is no different, no different at all! It's very pretty to have on a shelf, it's very well written from a fantastic woman, and is of course helpful to those who need it! Each page will engage you, sucking you in further. It's definitely a fantastic book, and one I've no problems recommending!
