Ive just got the benq mp771 and i must say I am really disappointed with it , even though it has the capability of projecting large images in very small spaces it lacks from some basic features that every projector of this price should have , It also fails in recognizing signals from apple computers and you have to connect and disconnect VGA cable every time you want to project a VGA signal.

The benq mp771 DOSENT have a manual zoom, it only have manual focus in its lens, so it needs to be located exactly in a certain distance to fill your screen perfectly, that is a problem when you want to fit perfectly the image into a screen and you are planing some fiscal place to put the projector.

I include the number of features this projector doesn't include:
The projector doesn't include Horizontal Keystone, which makes a real challenge for installing the projector perfectly in angle.

The digital zoom only ZOOMS IN , what if I need a little more distance for the fiscal conditions to place the projector , why cant I zoom out the image even though I loose projection pixels in the screen , sometimes is needed to make the image fit in a certain size of screen.
The warranty its not global , I bought it in Canada and I live in Mexico and the manufacturer doesn't want to be responsible for the signal recognition problem in the VGA port of the NEW projector.
My final conclusion is , if you are willing to pay that much money for the capability of projecting large images in small spaces , measure perfectly the size of your room and your screen , use the projection calculator in the benq web site to assure you can adapt your fiscal conditions to the size of your screen remember once you locate the projector , you wont be able to make the image smaller, big can also be a problem if it is not controllable, It is clear that the manufacture doesn't mention anything of this in his tech specs.
Advantages: Big image when placed one meter from the wall Disadvantages: didn't notice any so far
...I decided to buy this BenQ MP771. I've been working with it for several days now and I have to say that it met all my expectations. So far I am very satisfied.
I like its short-throw technology because I place the projector only one meter away from the wall and I still get a huge picture displayed, about 70". That's perfect as my meeting room is not that big. You have to imagine that a standard projector which a friend borrowed me only managed a ... ...I can't complain either. The BenQ MP771 offers bright and clear pictures. The reason are high 3000 ANSI lumen which creates a great brightness. Also the hight contrast ratio of 2000:1 which produces very sharp pictures contributes to the good overall picture impression (just for comparison, an standard contrast ration is 400:1). The noise level is low, during start and shutdown the cooler can be heard but during normal operation mode no noise is ...

Advantages: Small, portable, short throw, 3000 lumens, ease of use. Disadvantages: Minor picture distortion resulted from short-throw projection.
I got this projector as a replacement from our school’s IT department 2 months ago, cause our existing projector for the classroom was just too old to play with anymore. Been so fun to teach with since the day I received it. The short throw technology adds the “no-boundaries” title that this projector really deserves. It can projector far or it can project close at fair sizes for the relative ranges. The picture quality of the projection was beautiful. ... ...one another, as in the colors did not blend in with one another, looking like more of a big blob.
I love how the projector is short throw, and because of this sometimes I take it home with me for movies with my wife and children on the weekend. As we do not have a large flat screen TV, this projector makes the perfect alternative for such an event. You could also use this projector for watching sporting events with friends or families. I could imagine ...

Manufacturer's product description
Wish you could enjoy a big-screen show, but don't think the space you have in mind is large enough? Then the BenQ MP771 is your small-space solution. That's because this premium, high-brightness XGA projector has an amazing short-throw ratio, enabling large-screen projection from a close range. It's perfect for places where space is limited, like partition rooms, small conference rooms, lecture halls or classrooms where physical layout forces the projector to be up close to the screen. With its smart short-throw ratio, the MP771 makes big screen viewing easy for smaller areas, such as departmental meeting rooms or living rooms-where it can deliver a phenomenal experience with the interactive games currently in vogue. Able to project a 74" picture from just a mere meter away, the MP771 not only overcomes space constraints, but positioning it close to the screen keeps the movements of viewers from affecting the picture. The short-throw ratio also makes it more practical & safe for presenters to stand between the projector and audience, avoiding the annoyance and health risks of the bright projector lamp shining into their eyes. The MP771's short-throw ratio means limited space no longer limits your big-screen viewing pleasure. With the MP771's advanced optical technologies, you can count on high-impact, richly-colored presentations any time, regardless of ambient lighting conditions or onscreen content. The MP771 automatically enhances brightness levels while maintaining an impressive high contrast ratio.
