If you’re on a diet but love chocolate ice cream and have naughty days where you simply must give in to your craving, then you really must rush out at full speed or maybe a slight trot (that’s the piggy in me coming to the fore again, lol) ... ...on a diet and love chocolate ice cream then you can have a slow walk down the shops and get yourself a tub.
It was around that time when I opened my tub the other night, lol.
I’m not well at the moment (arrrrrr sympathy please), I’ve got a sore throat and runny nose (what do you mean that’s to much information for you!!) and of coarse I’m going to use this as an excuse to eat as much ice cream as possible. What better way to…. 1: Make oneself feel better and 2: ease the symptoms of a sore throat.
(Off topic for a moment) Why is it, when I have a cold, my partner has the flu? He’s just after the sympathy vote if you ask me (he’s not getting any, lol)
Okay then, on with the review……~ B&J’s Chocolate Fudge Brownie ~ ^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^
The tub describes this ice cream as decadent, woohooo! It’s a chocolate ice cream with chocolate brownie pieces. It boasts that only the best ingredients have been used. It sounds like it’s going to be all rather chocolaty doesn’t it?
~ The Proofs In The Tasting, Isn’t It? ~ ^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^
Now you really must love chocolate to even want to try this, it’s not for everyone’s taste buds! It’s definitely a chocolate taste sensation, no doubt about that by jiggery!
After prising off the lid of MY tub of ice cream, I was instantly aware of the chocolaty scent that wafted up my nostrils, bearing in mind that I do have a cold (and a sore throat). This means it’s got to be really chocolaty.
Mmmmmmm, I couldn’t wait to dive in. I suggest you give the ice cream a good ten minutes to defrost a little before trying to get any out of the tub at all! It’s solid otherwise, I did try and get some out but only ended up with a bent spoon and a sore wrist (to go with my sore throat, ;O)) Anyway after I’d waited long enough to get some into a dish, I tried the chocolate ice cream on it’s own with out any brownie.
This is the best chocolate ice cream I have ever tasted to date! (I haven’t tried Haagen Dazs Belgian chocolate one yet!). It’s definitely decadent and no mistake. It’s rich and creamy but really, really thick too. It takes ages to melt, which I find is always a good sign where ice cream is concerned. The chocolate taste is lovely but it is very rich like I’ve already said. I would go as far as to say it’s wickedly chocolaty! It’s not what I’d class as a milky chocolate flavour and it’s not a dark chocolate flavour either, but probably somewhere in between the two. Another plus for the ice cream is, it is almost chewy. Have you ever watched some American sit-com (I’ve noticed a lot of peeps eat ice cream in these type of shows, lol) and they’re sitting about eating ice cream and literally chewing it! Well that’s what this stuff reminds me of. Maybe I’m just a pig to notice things like this but so be it, OINK, SNORT!!
Anyway the chocolate ice cream definitely hits the spot if you crave chocolate (which I do).
Okay, I’ll talk about the chocolate fudge brownie pieces now if I may? I may, okay then :O)
I’m not a huge fan of brownies normally but then I hadn’t tasted B&J’s fudge brownie pieces. I can only give them praise, as I can’t find a fault with them. When you scoop a piece of brownie onto your spoon, it looks like a bit of chocolate cake which, I suppose it is really but it’s chocolate cake with a kick. When you put it in your mouth and start to masticate (oooer) it goes from cake to rich gooey chewy sumptuousness, mmmmmmmm. Now this stuff is worth every calorie if you ask me.
When you combine the ice cream and the brownie together you have what I can only describe as an oral orgasm, fwoarrrrrr again, eh!!
It’s freaking gorgeous, I’m definitely going to be purchasing this again!!
Now for the nasty nutritional information so if you don’t want to know, then you are allowed to skip merrily past this little bit :O)~ NUTRITION Per 100grams ~ ^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^
Calories – 260 Total Fat (g)– 13 Saturated Fat (g)– 9 Cholesterol (g) – 40 Sodium (g) – 75 Carbohydrate (g) – 31 Dietary Firbe (g) – 2 Sugars (g) – 25 Protein (g) – 4 Add a splash of vitamin A and drop of Calcium and a bit of Iron and try and not to think of the fat for goodness sake :O)
You may be thinking this is very bad indeed and you’d probably be right but there is a saving grace to this ice cream!
It’s so rich you will probably not be able to eat loads of it. I for one tend to have a scoop on a cone or in a bowl with a lovely hobnob bikkie. This tub last me longer than any of the other flavours I’ve tried and that’s got to be a good thing hasn’t it?
~ Price and Availability ~ ^%^%^%^%^%^%^%^
Well as usual with luxury ice cream, you’re gonna pay for your pleasure! This will cost you anything from £3.27 to nearly a fiver depending on where you shop. If you can get yourself a bogof then that would be fab (let me know if you’ve seen any about please) but other wise it’s definitely worth shopping around for. The best offer I know of at the moment it being run by Tesco. They are currently giving you an extra 100 Tesco points with every purchase of Ben&Jerry’s ice cream, their usual price being £3.27, so that’s a quid saved straight away (well at least until your vouchers come through) the offer ends on 3 November so hurry, hurry, hurry.

The packaging as usual is quite fetching. The colour purple features on the lid and base of the tub with the B&J’s logo on the front back and lid in white. The name of the product is splattered on the front back and lid too in the colour cream. Very nice :O). The picture on the front of this flavour doesn’t really do the ice cream justice, as it’s just a picture of brownie pieces with a chocolate coloured background. Nothing startling but now you’ve read this maybe you’ll be more tempted to buy it, gwon, you know you want it, lol.
Included on the front of the tub is a brief description of the ice cream with a more tempting description on the back of the tub. As on the back is a serving suggestion. B&J’s recommend you try this ice cream with a dollop of chocolate chip cookie dough on top, personally I think that would be much to sickly.
The back of the tub also has a picture of blue skies, fluffy clouds and a couple of cows in a field. Also included in a weird picky of B&J themselves. Not a recent one I’ll bet.
You will also find a list of ingredients and the web site address.

Advantages: You can call it a real ice cream Disadvantages: Expensive
...noticed a special offer on Ben & Jerry’s ice cream range of buy two for £5. I believe they normally retail around the £3.30 mark, or so. Despite that, I still resisted what I thought was still an excessive price, despite all the good reviews I read about their products.

Ben & Jerry pride themselves on using the most natural ingredients possible, with rich, wholesome lashings/fillings of whatever the ice cream concerned is, be it chocolate, biscuits, caramel and so on. I have no quarrels with them there. The helpings in each variety were certainly the best I’ve had up till now, and I have tasted many brands in the past to justify that statement. The ice cream was smooth, milky, rich in texture ...

Advantages: Chocolate Heaven Disadvantages: Fat girlfriend from hell
It all happened one lazy autumn Sunday evening, the agenda was set, lounging around in our student squalor, with the comedy genius that is Eddy Izzard to keep us entertained on the VCR. As I ventured out our kitchen on the prowl for some sweet matter to occupy my taste buds for the duration, the signs weren’t good, a jam sandwich was the best offering I could muster, but it would have to suffice. As I completed the sarny and slapped the top ... ...of mould dotted artistically across the surface. Even my student hygiene carefree instinct could not overcome this fungal obstacle, so I decided to bight the bullet and trek the whole 20 meter walk to the chocolate playground that is Ali’s newsagents.
On entering I was greeted by the difficult decision of which one of these colourful hopefuls I should take home for a sticky night of pleasure. While debating this matter, a mysterious magnetic ...

...but I deserve it!
Ben and Jerry's comes in a cardboard pot containing 500ml of ice cream. I like the cardboard containers, as they feel more luxurious and special than plastic containers. It makes me feel like I am treating myself more. Half of the tub is filled with lovely pictures of chocolate fudge brownies, giving you an idea of the joys you are in for! Below the pictures, the flavour is written on a purple background. Easy to spot in the freezer!

Advantages: Everything except the price! Disadvantages: The Price!
Ben and Jerry are the single most fantastically great people ever to walk the face of this earth. They are saviours to dumped women and ice-cream obsessives everywhere, and I bow down to their magnificence. I have been hoping and praying for a Food category on Ciao ever since I arrived here, just so I could spread the good word, and finally, after all this time… it appears! The major appeal to me of this ice cream is ‘discovering’ the bits of brownies as you eat. The smallish pieces are definitely big enough to be easy to taste, but are small enough so bits can get hidden in a spoonful of the rich chocolate ice cream. You do have to have a lot of self control not to dig out all of the brownies bits though! ...
