Wahey, welcome to my 100th Ciao opinion! 6 months and still going strong!
I've been a little bit down recently. Loads of work, no girlfriend etc (Sarah01, knows all aboout this). It's been a hard few weeks for me, as I start my GCSE's soon (I'm meant to be revising really!). So as a break I went down to my local Tesco (look, it was near), to go and get some food and stuff my face later on in the day to cheer me up.
What did I buy?
A pizza, loads of chocolate and this, some Ben and Jerry's ice cream. Now I am going to write this op as I make my way down the tub pf ice cream, so can give you the full experience.
The tub - One thing americans have been good at is giving us, good sized tubs of ice cream. For some reason we go for blocks of the stuff, instead the Americans pack their ice cream - to the top - full of the stuff. Although it's not big, it's
an excuse for eating it all yourself (greedy, greedy!)
I decided to buy a tub of Phish Food. I decided to buy this on the strength of it's description over the other delectible looking ice creams - 'We swirled chewy marshmallow & gooey caramel into sinfully good chocolateice cream made with pure dairy from our lush Vermont farms, then poured in a full school of fish shaped chocolate pieces'. Doesn't it make your mouth water.
I'll give you a few seconds to wipe that little bit of dribble off your face and keyboard.
Right now we are ready to go again. As you can tell, I am raring to break open the lid and dig my greedy chops into what has to be the most calorie infested food I have ever seen - and it looks great!
If you've ever bought some chcolate ice cream, then imagine the colour more brown and more rich, then you have the chocolate faced in front of me at the moment. Of course, add in some gloriously sticky caramel, in stringy layers from the top of the lid, and the white as snow marshmallow and you can now understand why I am lusting after an ice cream - that is very sad!
Excuse, I just have to grab a spoon (rush off at 100mph to get that spoon, and come back).
So we have ice cream - rapidly melting - and I haven't tasted it - yet!
(Dig spoon into ice cream, take a massive chunk and shove it into my mouth)
As you can tell I kind of like it. Out of all the ice creams I have tried in my life, this has to be the best, most delicious thing I have ever tasted.
(Wipe ring of melted chocolate from my mouth)
Now just to make sure, I am going to have another spoonful, before I describe the taste.
(about 7 spoonfulls later...)
When you were younger, do you remember having an ice cream that is full of your favourite, utterly wicked ingrediants, which are just waiting to pile the pounds on you? Well this is it!
The chocolate is sweet and very rich, while there really are loads of chunky chocolate pieces, similar to the stuff out of advent calenders.
The marshmallow is spread randomly around the tub, so one bite you can have just chocolate, another with mallow. Either way, all of it is tasty beyond belief.
(I am already half way down the tub)
Perhaps this stuff is too addictive - nah! When your down, there is nothing like ice cream to make things alright again.
(Ooh, hang on, just drop a dollop of it on the floor. Shall I throw it away? It would be a waste. Oh, go on then, I'll eat it! It really is that good)
The name 'Phish Food' is slightly random, but is dedicated to the French company Phish, which run Ben and Jerry's, so don't be put off - it's not Salmon flavoured ice cream or something.
As far as foods that can stimulate the taste buds and delight the stomach, it don't 'arf hurt the wallet.
The only real reason I bought this was because it was on special offer, but normally a price of £3.27 for a 500ml tib of ice cream is a little steep for something you can get three times more of for less that £1.50. But it does taste fantastic and it doesn't skimp on flavour.
I am going to put this one down as a treat for me. If your feeling a bit down, then there is nothing like ice cream to put a smile back on your face - as well as a massive chocolate stain on your T-Shirt as you shovel it down your throat!
(+) Gorgeous combination of tastes, reasonably low in fat, smells amazing, suitable for vegetarians (-) Extremely high in sugar, verging on high calories, no allergy information, quite expensive
Advantages: The chocolate ice cream is very nice and the packaging is eye catching! Disadvantages: To expensive - and you can read the review for the rest of my complaints :((
