The Benefit brand originated in San Francisco and follows the ethos of vintage glam, it reminds me of the 1940's era. The official website for the brand (www.benefitcosmetics.com) states that the aim was to create stores with a candy store like atmosphere. I bought thieir mascara for the first time when I moved away to university. Before that I hadn't had access to the brand Benefit and it's counters.
The mascara comes in a chunky tube, with white lettering on it for the brand name and words BAD gal, the word lash is written in pink. The wand is possibly one of the biggest ones I have ever seen in a mascara, which is perhaps why it is so successful in creating really big and volumised lashes when I use it. The containter holds 8.5grans or product and usually lasts me about six months; I am currently on my second tube.
There are however some drawbacks to the product. Whilst it creates such an amazing effect it is not waterproof. This is not a problem for me on my top lashes, however my eyes water sometimes in the day which causes it to run if applied to the lower lashes. The size of the wand also makes lower lash application difficult for me, as a result I use this mascara on top lashes only and then if I want to do the bottom lashes use a different mascara.
Benefit have recently released a waterproof version of the mascara, however it is in smaller tubing and has a smaller wand so does not create such a great effect. In fact the lady at the Benefit counter told me not to bother with it!
Overall I would recommend this product and I'm giving it a four out of five as I have yet to find another mascara that can create such volume. However this is not an everyday wear for me, more a special occasion mascara as it costs £14.50 which is still value for money considering how long it lasts, but is also still a lot to lay out for me as a student. If you buy this product in larger boots stores or on boots.com you can accure advantage points, therefore I would not recommend using the Benefit website itself to buy the product unless it has a special offer running.
