Not only is my skin blue, but it is also shiny! I know, you have a mental picture of a smurf now and maybe you wouldn't be that far wrong. The blue skin is a Scottish thing(see "you rebel" op) and the shiny part is just a fact of life for most of us gals who live in the real world.

I am one of those women who dread the lights coming up at the end of the night- no not cos of the choice of my companion!, simply because my carefully placed make-up of six hours ago is making a bid for freedom and has slid its way down my face in a most unattractive way.
So,what do I do to avoid looking like a Picasso at the end of the night?, I hear a million desperate women( well, one) cry. Let me tell you about a product from those lifesavers at Benefit (www.benefitcosmetics.com). It is their very effective powder and is called "get even".
This powder comes in three shades- light, medium and dark. It is presented in a very standard and somewhat unexciting circular black compact with the Benefit logo in pale yellow on the lid. The compact contains 11g of pressed powder, a mirror and blending sponge to apply it. It comes in a beige and black canvas purse though I have to say that this item seems a little redundant as returning the compact to it each time is pointless.
I wear the medium, which when opened tends to appear very slightly yellow. This works well in counteracting the red tones in my skin. It has no discernible scent. I tend to wear it over my tinted moisturiser where it removes all the shine, helps to set the make-up in place and evens out my complexion. Get even has a very fine texture and goes on smoothly, evenly and inconspicuously. The amount applied depends very much on personal preference, but because of its fine texture, layers can be built up until you get the look that you want( so no grand entrances looking like Elizabeth the first ). Personally speaking, I prefer to use a large powder brush so I can more easily control the amount applied. This powder corrects redness, conceals, smoothes and even gives a smurf like myself a perfect finish,
The thing I love most about this product is its staying power. It stays put throughout the evening without any need to touch-up so if I look like a rendition of a Picasso painting at the end of the night, it is a genetics issue and not due to the cosmetics version of "The Great Escape".It is easily removed with make-up wipes.
It contains various impressive-sounding chemicals which I will not attempt to duplicate but does contain talc and several zinc compounds which some people may find irritant to their skins. It would be well worth asking for a patch test before handing over your hard earned money if you do tend to react to zinc.
Cost? Come now, it's Benefit, so you know it won't come cheap. The price in Boots for this is £20.00 but it is also available via their website for $24.00. All in all quite expensive but I have used this for more than a month and have not even dented it yet so it will last for ages. A small price to pay for not having to scurry to a darkened corner like a vampire when the lights come up (I was going to say "like a cockroach" but even I have better self esteem than that!).
Advantages: Evens out skin tone, Reduces redness and blemishes Disadvantages: Expensive, As you run out it starts to crumble!
...more about this Godsend *
Benefit Get Even is as the title suggests, a powder to even out skin tone and give you a finish in just one shade. It reduces any areas of redness to a natural colour as well as disguising other areas – such as my yellow ish chin! It comes in a somewhat (unusual for Benefit products) black compact with just the Benefit logo on the lid. The compact is placed in a white and beige little bag, totally for decoration and I always ... ...the compact you’ll find a mirror on the top lid, which aids in quick application when you’ve not got a mirror to hand as well as your typical cushioned, foam type applicator (black on one side, white on the other). There’s very little smell associated with this too.
Application is quick and easy, you simply apply it as you would a typical foundation compact powder, wipe the applicator over the product and then simply blot and blend onto your skin ...

Advantages: Better than Concealor & Foundation, Pure & Even Skin Tone in a simple step! Disadvantages: Once again... you know what I'm gonna say... price!
...Face Place was renamed as Benefit and as they had many boutiques under their belt they felt it was time to conquer the world! Benefit cosmetics can now be found in the UK in larger Boots stores, Debenhams and Selfridges.
* What is Get Even? *
The packaging – Quite dull in comparison to many Benefit products was my first thought upon being presented with this, it’s in a simple black compact with a mirror on the upper side and a small application ... ...Again the huge downfall with Benefit products, the price – yet in this instance I have to argue that it is justified by the effect of the product, unlike any concealor you’ll ever have come across! It’s £21.50 from Boots which is a little excessive I do agree as on average a compact of this will only last me about 2 months when used daily… oh well when needs must I suppose!
So go on girls, get even!
Thanks for reading! ...

Advantages: Very good at concealing patchy skin. Disadvantages: None really, Expensive, but will last months.
...money, I head to the Benefit counter in Debenhams, to reward myself. Illogical, I know, but that’s just the way I look at things. Life’s to short to fret over spending copious amounts of money on little boxes of make-up; so I rarely feel guilty.
My latest purchase was ‘Get Even.’ I have oily skin, and I’ve just about run out of my translucent powder, I was looking for a replacement, so after a few minutes hovering around the ‘Dior’ section, I inevitably ... ...going to be of any benefit to you as it is just the product I want to talk about, and I do not want to gabble on needlessly. The blurb of the box says “Blot, blot, blot away shine and discoloration with this incredible blotting powder.” And so when I picked up the box I just thought that sounded too good to be true. At £21.50, perhaps it was a little flamboyant a purchase, as I had no idea what I wanted it to do, or indeed what it would be capable ...

Advantages: Fantastic coverage, colour and staying power Disadvantages: Expensive
...bought me a selection of Benefit products last Christmas. I must say, this is now one of my must-have beauty products. I simply could not do without it.
The product comes in a basic black circular compact with a mirror and also comes neatly packaged in a cardboard box . The actual powder weighs 11grams but a little goes a long way and just one compact lasts me about 6months. There are only 3 shades of this product, a light, medium and dark. I am ... ...This is the best face powder I have ever tried-not only for its effectiveness, but for its natural colour and ability to match up to such a variety of skin tones. "Get Even" is sold at Boots, the Benefit website, and most good department stores such as Debenhams. ...

Advantages: Adds lots of volume, works on many lashes (I know others who have this product) Disadvantages: Doesn't last long
I don't know about making you a 'bad gal' but it works wonders for your lashes!
I got this as a christmas present last year and thought it was great! The mascara wand is very big which makes it quicker to apply the mascara to your lashes and because of it's thickness it holds in more mascara which adds
V O L U M E
(and lots of it!).
There are only two disadvantages to this product. The first, is the price. But - it's BeneFit! You spend a lot but it is worth it, so even though it costs a lot you get your money's worth!
The second disadvantage is that it doesn't last too long. It says on the product that it only lasts six months, (and that's how long it lasted) but it just seems a shame for someone like me (who doesn't have much money).
However, an amazing mascara, strongly recommended to anyone who wants lashes ...
