...when I headed towards the Benefit counter! First things first, I love the Benefit range, I love the 50`s styling that the products have and I love the way all the products have really crazy names (show offs, smooch and boo zap to name but a few!) I also love the packaging of these products and the kitsch feel they all have, Benefit know how to make a girl feel special! The company is based in San Francisco, and has only recently become a big name ... ...attached to your lips. The Benefit gloss leaves you with quite a shiny even coverage and quite full looking lips that don’t stick at all.
There is the one disadvantage though, the gloss doesn’t last all that long, you have to reapply it every couple of hours or so, but again, I think this is the same with all lip glosses, none of them tend to stay as long as they say they will!

I was recently in Debenhams, and after buying my Lancôme bronzer, I felt in quite a spending mood. That’s when I headed towards the Benefit counter! First things first, I love the Benefit range, I love the 50`s styling that the products have and I love the way all the products have really crazy names (show offs, smooch and boo zap to name but a few!) I also love the packaging of these products and the kitsch feel they all have, Benefit know how to make a girl feel special! The company is based in San Francisco, and has only recently become a big name in cosmetics in the UK, but I’m sure they’re here to stay. Anyway enough of this lets get to the gloss part….
So I stand there looking and looking, (must have been there about 10minutes marvelling at the Glamorous Gabbi makeup bags) and then I decide on a bottle of High Beam and Gloss for lips.
>>THE PRICE<<< The price of this product is £10.50 and I think that’s pretty much regardless of where you buy it from. It sounds a lot for one tiny lip gloss, but if you think you deserve it and fancy a treat what the hell! I don’t wear a lot of makeup generally, but I always have to have something on my lips, so I don’t mind spending money on something I know I’m going to use! I’m not sure to be perfectly honest whether its THAT much better than some of the cheaper glosses out there (I have recently found that Maybelline`s may be almost as good, take a look at my review!) Nevertheless, I try to remain loyal to Benefit!
>>>THE PACKAGING<<< The product comes in a tube, inside another thin plastic tube with a little lid; I suppose the plastic packaging protects it slightly. The actual gloss is contained in a normal size lip gloss tube, and there’s 7ml/0.24 fl oz of the stuff. The tube is slightly frosted, which gives it a nice classy feel, without obstructing the colour of the gloss inside, and has black wring on it, product name, ingredients, and the usual bumph! The tube has a silver screw lid, which you can take off to see the actual colour of the gloss a bit clearer on the spongy applicator. The name of the colour is displayed on a silver sticker on the base of the tube, mine is called getaway! One bugbear that I do have about the packaging is that the black writing quickly wears off, and looks all speckled and rubbish. This is however the same with most makeup products that get jangled around in my little bag!
>>>THE COLOURS<<< The gloss comes in a range of colours, from completely clear (crystal) to bright red (groovy) to a strange browny pale purple colour (getaway.) You could certainly find a colour that would suit you, and there are some very unusual ones as well, I chose mine because it seemed quite bizarre. The gloss I chose is called getaway, it really is a beautiful colour, sort of pale purple, with a pink sheen.
>>>THE GLOSS<<< When you go to put the gloss on your lips, the first thing you will probably is the gorgeous smell. It doesn`t smell at all like makeup, it smells like some really sweet food, quite a girly sweet smell, but don’t let it put you off. Truth is, it smells like nothing else, best thing to compare it to is some sort of candy! Don’t try licking it though; unfortunately it doesn’t taste quite as good! The gloss glides onto the lips quite smoothly, and is not sticky at all (sorry juicy tube lovers, I ain`t a fan!!) In fact the gloss is incredibly smooth, usually I find that lip gloss is very sticky, and there’s nothing worse than walking around with strands of hair permanently attached to your lips.
>>>MY OPINION<<< I think this product is well worth the money, and even if you don’t usually buy expensive make up, you should give it a go, as I said earlier, Benefit products can make you feel like a million dollars!!! I can’t think of any real disadvantages, except for maybe the price, oh and quite a lot comes out on the applicator so they soon run out (or is that me putting more on every 10 minutes because I like the smell!?!) Go on girlies treat yourselves, you’ll be impressed, you have my word!
>>>THE WEBSITE<<< For an extra information please visit the Benefit website at www.benefitcosmetics.com , here you can take a look at the products they offer, (you’ll see what I mean about the packaging and names of things!), see how benefit began and you can even browse their spring/summer catalogue online. Alternatively you can pick up a catalogue from Benefit make up counters in larger department stores nationwide. The cosmetics are also availible in large department stores such as House Of Frasier and Debenhams!
Advantages: Thick, nice smelling and really glossy. Disadvantages: Doesn't stay on well and hard to get even coverage.
Benefit was founded and is still run by Arizona twins, Jane and Jean. In 1976 they opened up their first boutique called the Face Place. They sold delicious make up products with quirky names and fabulous packaging. The boutique became a huge success and after opening five San Francisco boutiques the girls re-named Face Place to Benefit. It went from strength to strength and they now have 650 counters worldwide in shops like Harrods, Selfridges, ... ...catalogue and fantastic website, Benefit is a Make-Up giant with fans from all generations. They have an American website but in the UK you can purchase their products through the Department stores mentioned above.

Advantages: great colours Disadvantages: not enogh in the tube
Benefit The Gloss lip glosses come in thirteen different shades. These glosses are quite small and do tend to get used up very quickly. The colours are all great however they discontinued my favourite one called Wink which was a glorious mauve so my new favourite is Streakin' a baby pink colour. These glosses give a lot more colour pay off than the other Benefit glosses so they do tend to last a while. Like all other Benefit glosses the go on evenly ... ...do not get a lot for your money though they are quite small. They do have an excellent range of shades with more being added all the time. The down side to this is when they add one one gets removed so my advice is if you find one you like stock up on it quick - before they discontinue it! Please note this reveiw is all my own work and has also been uploaded to another survey site by myself. ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "BeneFit Gloss"
. A Maybelline Fruity Jelly gloss for every girl and a cigar for all the boys. Cute. Though damn it I nicked me a cigar too to hang out of my glossed lips. And I made sure I shared my gloss with a lucky gentleman later on in the evening too.
Maybelline Fruity Jelly is a great little gloss. It's not too runny, but not hideously thick and sticky either, just the right consistency to stay on your lips, but to look as if it might slide off down your chin at any minute. Essentially it makes mouths look wet and naughty.
I do actually have a couple of tubes of this lurking in the stash at home, but they had long been displaced in favour of my beige gloss wand from Zara, my sticky purple BeneFitgloss, and the all time favourite Melon Lancome Juicy Tube (pronounced 'JowCee Chowbe' in our house). But I was pleasantly suprised to rediscover Maybelline ...
Advantages: Lovely packaging and tempting product names Disadvantages: Price
After reading some rave reviews about this range and it not being stocked anywhere locally, I convinced myself that I really needed to get some things from this magical range.
I visited www.boots.co.uk and with great excitement found the BeneFit department and found that I had found "make up heaven, containing pots of colour, pencils, shimmers and treatments"
The range was divided into 7 groups:
Fake its - "let no nasty wrinkle or line spoil your fun - fake its hide everything". There were 12 items in this section ranging in price from £13.50 for BeneFit smooch which seems to be a dry lip treatment in a lip gloss type container, to £22 for something called BeneFit hoola, a bronzing powder.
Concealers and correctors - "get rid of wrinkles, shadows, puffs and circles for flawless finish without lines". 7 items here ranging in ...

colouring. The lip colour is more like a gloss than a lip stick, sort of inbetween. Would be ideal for popping in your bag on a night out as they are so small.

BeneFit Silk Lip Sketching Pencil

Lip pencil for outlining lips. Comes in a good range of colours.
Price £12.50 each
* These are great. I have brought the lip pencil in two different colours but i use a different brand of lip stick with them. By using this lip pencil they really define my lips and give a better effect than just the lipstick on its own. The lip pencil last's a good length of time and is very easy to blend in. I have found that i can apply the lip pencil and then add a slick of gloss on top and i have a coloured lip gloss!
